Help make this work...

...I've been thinking of a way to get our representatives to vote according to our (their constituents) values.

We send letters/faxes/emails and make phone calls that likely never get to the elected public servant.

Some have suggested sending teabags. I like that basic idea, but I think das Homeland Bund has made sending food in the mail illegal (I'm not sure, exactly, I just have a hunch)

My alternative idea is to remind the candidate/incumbent about Obama's successful fundraising through small donors by sending them photocopies of an amount of money that you would have sent to the candidate/incumbent had they voted correctly.

Of course a note would accompany it with a reference to the huge community on DU.

What say you fellow DUers?

A photocopy of a check made out to the politician's campaign ... and then VOIDED by THEIR vote on specific legislation or failure to support legislative action. It'd be interesting if it had impact. (I'd be sure to block out the MICR account codes. They're criminals, you know.)

But, make sure the account number is redacted.

the game is rigged, and any common citizen that thinks that they/we can really make a difference in the political process anymore is...kinda cute, actually- in a naive kind of way.

In my opinion, the donations to Obama may be enough to give some of them pause.

Especially when it is framed as something they could have had had they voted correctly.

They know they have the corporate money, but it is my hope we can help them realize what they are losing by ignoring us.
