Are Faux-tears flowing from Kerry for troops? Who really cares?

Aside from Senator Kerry, who else in America has shed a tear over Iraq? How many hearts are breaking from sea to shining sea this very night?

Interestingly, a fellow Senator accidentally referring to him as “Senator Kennedy” mirrors a sentiment felt by many watching proceedings on the Iraq Resolution. He did act like a Kennedy but not Ted. The passion and love of country apparent in John came shining through as Kerry spoke.

While Navy valor in patrol-type boats obviously links the men – there is more. Not only is deep concern over our troops apparent in both leaders but also a love of country. Like John Kennedy, Kerry took more than a taste from the glittering chalice of politics. But in rare cases, political poison fails to destroy profound feelings that lead to character.

Back in the days of Kennedy Camelot, love was in the air. America fell in love with John and, at some point, he put his poisonous chalice aside. Love does conquer all, in the ultimate sense. Those who are dying tend to focus on the feeling -- or so they say.

Perhaps the words of dying crew-members are never really lost. Protecting life, liberty and pursuit of happiness in the Land-of-the-Free certainly seems like worthy last words. Such stellar sentiments sure sound good in movies but reality lacks Hollywood glamour. Still, as America’s Finest give the ultimate gift, you can bet feelings flow.

Family and friends fill their last thoughts. Let this post be a moment of silence, as it fills the air in their moments of ultimate meaning. Please post only three tears for our fallen finest; three tiny tears…

Things would have been so different if Gore had been president.

There has been a curious increase in things like allergies, gastro-intestinal problems, and the like, all since 2000. Crime has also increased, dramatically in some cases. Peoples' bodies and lives are weeping while their eyes stay dry.

Stressful, distressing times do that to people. I look at it as a form of weeping.

I don't cry when I see the flag-draped boxes coming home, but I can feel the poison of the world as it moves through my veins. Once upon a time, when I was a child, the world really was getting a little better with each passing year. We had a few years' return of it in the 1990s. But otherwise, things have been bad since "morning in America". It was the morning of a dark day.

I think the Bush years are going to mark the end of American's fever dream of conservatism, machismo, and kitch godliness; the Iraq War is likely to be the last one we start for a long, long time. (Bush starting an Iranian war looms as a possibility, but that's it.) The past several decades have hurt like a burn that just won't heal. I think we're fed up with all the pain.
