4. Did they not do a recount?

I thought they selected a particular group of ballots and counted it ahead so they knew it would match. If it matched, then there's no vote discrepancy that can be proven, isn't that right??

Special prosecutor Kevin Baxter, who was brought in from Erie County to handle the case, did not claim the workers' actions affected the outcome of the election - Kerry gained 17 votes and Bush lost six in the county's recount.

But Baxter insisted the employees broke the law when they worked behind closed doors three days before the public Dec. 16, 2004, recount to pick ballots they knew would not cause discrepancies when checked by hand so they could avoid a lengthier, more expensive hand recount of all votes.

It's not clear to me whether the votes involved in "Kerry gained 17 votes and Bush lost six in the county's recount" came from the batch of votes that are being complained about in this lawsuit.

However, it really isn't the point, nor is the low ("only 17 + 6") number of votes affected relevant. The issue is that they took actions which could be construed as tampering with the integrity of the recount.

The republican strategy of election fraud is "death by a thousand small cuts." A few votes per precinct can make the difference in a close election. If recounts are tampered with to avoid a full recount, then there can be no election integrity at all.

8. You know if I was convicted for a crime - I'd probably want to spill my guts out...

if there was a certain Secretary of State that told us not to bother much with the recount. The real crime was committed by Kenneth Blackwell - he was the 'kingpin' where these people were nothing more than the pawns playing his game
