Limbaugh: "Democrats will bend over for blacks and gays"

On Monday, radio talk host Rush Limbaugh opined that, while Republicans will abandon their conservative voter base, Democrats are willing to “bend over, grab their ankles, and say ‘Have your way with me’” for the “kook-fringe base” backed by billionaire George Soros.

“Conservatism has been the base of the Republican Party,” Limbaugh added, “and because the conservative base does include Pro-Lifers and because many of them are from the South, there are many in the Northeastern corridors of power in the Republican Party who are embarrassed to be in the party with those people.”

“The Democrats have never set any standards for themselves,” Limbaugh said. Republicans, he went on, are glad to distance themselves from their conservative base while Democrats, in desperation, embrace the lobbies they see simultaneously as victims in need and cash cows. Limbaugh estimated figures of 2% for the gay population, and 10% for blacks, as the percentage of “kooks,” in addition to an “anti-war kook fringe,” that have the Democratic Party petrified that said “kooks,” empowered by outlets such as MoveOn and Think Progress, will take their money elsewhere, such as to another political party.

Media Matters for America notes that Monday’s broadcast was not the first time Limbaugh invoked the “ankle-grabbing” metaphor. In July of 2005, Limbaugh used it in his criticism of former Republican National Committee chairman Ken Mehlman for his plan to apologize at the annual NAACP convention for the GOP’s “Southern Strategy,” started under President Nixon in 1968 to effectively use race as a wedge issue.
