Mika again: "Aww, he(Shrub)'s NICE. Don't do that to him!1"
This said after they played a LETTERMAN clip contrasting articulate past presidents to the sputtering idiot son of today.

A couple of months ago Mika did the same thing and posters here claimed she was being sarcastic.

Uh, no: There was NO sarcasm in her rendition. I'm predisposed to be on her side. I remember her favorably from pre-9/11, when MSRNC didn't have that "R" in it, when there was a new daytime show with Mika, Ashley BANFIELD, and another woman--a show that was bright, fast paced, and was ditched when 9-11 happened.

She always says she and her siblings are evenly split as Dems and Rethugs, and she's pretty good at not covering which *she* is.

2. Months ago I thought she was promising
But lately she seems like she's kissing Joes ass. Dissappointing.

13. When Joe isn't there, she actually has a spine
but as soon as he's back on the show, she reverts to an extra in an old Elvis movie. All that's missing is the bikini.
The show is SO much better when Joe-Ego isn't there. He doesn't let anyone else talk. His understanding of issues doesn't go beyond a cursory scan of headlines. And he's always more amused by himself than anyone else is.
But he does get very good guests. I like seeing David Axlerod and Harold Ford.

3. Bush is nice? What does she base that on?
His penchant for starting wars of aggression? His record of executions in Texas? His well-known spoiled brat insistence that he be in the lead on every bicycle workout, even when Lance Armstrong is along? What's nice about this guy? He won't actually run across the street to kick a puppy?

5. Are you serious about that?
Can you fill me in a little on the Lance Armstrong story? I can't believe the pettiness and self-centered petulance of this man! What an asshole!

:wow:

11. Little Boots luvs his bike ridin'
And nobody is allowed to ride ahead of him, not even when he was doing a little ride with Lance. For a picture:

And, for the rules, should you ever be chosen to go for a ride (courtesy of Bush stenographer Nedra Pickler, who I'm sure doesn't recognize the import of what she's saying):

12. I watch every morning, and though I like Mika
she has a bad habit of insisting what "a nice guy" Bush is, constantly. Really. And it irritates me because he isn't. He's lied our country into an unnecessary war that has resulted in thousands of American and Iraqi deaths. That's not nice. He's advocated torture, buried Habeas Corpus, rescinded needed environmental safeguards, cut funding for wounded soldiers, vowed to "get to the bottom" of a laundry list of issues (including outing a federal agent) and then done nothing. This is not a "nice man" and Mika needs to quit with the sweetie-pie Junior League white glove act. She sometimes acts like she's June Cleaver and this is 1958, not 2008.

6. I think it is faked outrage.
I have seen her do this many times and I don't take it seriously at all. And when I was able to watch (when the jerk isn't there) it is totally funny. And as for which way she leans, she is only one vote.

8. Can we send some emails
To remind her what shrub has done to the world.

4107 young men dead. 30,000 wounded. Some with injuries that will require them to wear a colostomy bag the rest of their lifes. The loss of limbs. The burns. All for lies. He wanted to finish the job his daddy did'nt do.

She says, he's nice.

9. I'm still disposed to be convinced by her fans here (& *I'm* even one) that
Edited on Wed Jun-25-08 10:29 AM by UTUSN
she is being sarcastic. But she must have the DRIEST delivery ever, because I seldom need a "sarcasm" smilie.

As to those claiming it's an ongoing shtick that requires the context of constant watching to "get," I admit that, while I turn it on every day at 6, I'm mostly dozing till it's time to get up. So I might be missing something.

It's a totally different show when the jerk isn't there, and to those who say she kisses up to *him*, it just might be that the cast is under severe reminder that *he* is the "star" of the show, even if he tends to take Mondays and Fridays off, which to any Personnel manager is a sure sign of chemical abuse.

But returning to Mika, she is a Daddy's Girl, and not only that but used to Daddies who are Powerful Men. She is extremely solicitous and deferential to her "old boss" Dan RATHER and, I believe, creates opportunities to include him into the show's line-up.

All that said, this is a *fluff* of a thread that barely even just qualifies under a "media watch" type of a thing, not requiring much of our ten percent. brain power's being squandered over it. I just wish that my faithful flamers who call me "rude and stupid" and "reading comprehension impaired" would gaze adoringly on it...............

14. She says Bush is Nice all the time.
I have Morning Joe on every morning. Not for Joe, that's for sure. But I like Ridley, Ford, and Axlerod. And, occasionally, Barnacle. Mika constantly says "Bush is a nice man." Much as I like Mika, and I do, she has a bad habit of dumbing herself down for the men. Her own father ("Ziggy") told her she acted like a "mouse" on the show. And he's right. She always undercuts her own statements with, "well, I don't know" and "I'm not sure"....like some sorority girl from decades ago trying to"catch" a man.

15. Yes she does dumb herself down or maybe that isn't an act either.
She does seem to be living in the 50's and from a woman that lived there it wasn't that much fun. I have mostly stopped watching because I don't like the way he seems to talk down to her and the way that she allows it. I try to start my day on a positive note and that is the reason I can't watch when he is on. I might harm my television.

16. I may follow your lead and quit watching
You're right. It's not always the best way to start the day. I used to watch CSPAN's Washington Journal every morning. After a while, I just couldn't take the crazed rightwing Kool-aid drinkers anymore. It's disturbing to know there are so many people out there who still believe we were attacked by Iraq on 9-11, that Iraq did have WMD, that Saddam Hussein did have links to Al Quida, and that torture and the suspension of Habeas Corpus is the height of American patriotism. I was so depressed by these "low information" callers that I switched to Morning Joe. Guess it's back to CNN. Joe and Mika are working my last nerve.

17. I'll Check out CNN. I'm up early and can't stand the local shows that early in the morning.
I just need it in the background to ease me into reality.
