Edited on Wed Jun-25-08 01:24 PM by Mabus
Or he's been drying out for more than a month! There's no way he could be that sober overnight.

on edit: K&R because this is such a rare event!

8. Oh yeah long time drinker
He was kinda buddies with my daddy. So I am NOT spreading an unsubstantiated rumor. :)

No my dad wasn't an alcoholic but he knew Kit well enough to know he was a tippler.

Kit is stumbling a bit now. Bet he has a flask back in his office. Time to bring this speech to an end, Senator!!

10. One time, evl, proud, my husband and I saw Kit Bond on the streets of DC
Believe me, he had been drinking. He was being helped along the street because he was having trouble walking/standing. And that was early evening.

She was a rather attractive and young blonde thing. Or was she a brunette? :)

7. Kit Bond...
Friend of the cyclist and pedestrian.

Or not.

Kit wants you to drive your car across his new (earmark) bridge.

22. Not that
I meant that his bridge to northland can have bike lanes, but not entrance/exit ramps for them- and that's ok with him.

His old stance was best summed up by the phrase "get off the road."

I have been unimpressed by him since the seventies when my co-worker at an opera house in St. Charles was a big fan. I got to meet young Bond at a St. Louis event. He made my skin crawl and still does, decades later. He was triangulating South and West County STL rednecks even then.

If lightning struck him and a rabid possum, I'd first look to the possum.
:)

Edited on Wed Jun-25-08 01:37 PM by Mabus
That's probably the longest he's been without a drink in a long time.

edited to add: If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have believed it.

20. Good point.
What does a sober Kit Bond act like? He may have just been less smashed than usual and the difference was just so striking.

26. That would depend on when he rolled out of bed, wouldn't it?
If he rolled out of bed around 11 a.m. and started speechifying around noon, it would be early for him. If he rolled out of a gutter at 4 a.m. and stayed awake, it might be a little late for him.

Saw him very up close in 1997 at an MU football game. Dude looks *bad*. And like the post above, he had to be helped and steadied out of his limo, and that was 11 years ago!
