7. police never had the obligation to defend
The police have no obligation to defend any individual citizen. You were always on your own to defend yourself in the moment of the crime. I believe it was a Philly rape case that settled that question.

Some of us have realized that for a long time.

I figured it out in April 1968 when a large earthquake hit Southern California. I was 10 years old at the time. Since that day I have never been under the delusion that there is always going to be some benevolent government force to come and rescue me.
