Scalia to US: "Guns are still banned from MY courtroom"....
"But the rest of you suckers better buy bullet-proof vests. Hahahaha..."

...

Scalia said nothing in Thursday's ruling should "cast doubt on long-standing prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons or the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings."

2. Hypocrite.
If I'm safe walking the street or entering non-government buildings with a bunch of nutbugs carrying concealed weapons, Scalia should be safe under the same conditions in his court room.

Once again, what's good for the American people isn't applicable to our government. And that is wherein the problem lies. No more double standards!

3. They're banned from my apartment, also.
They're banned from my apartment, also.

Not implying that I want to "grab" anyone's firearms, but I'll be damned if I invite any civilian over to my place with the knowledge that they are armed.

I imagine if there are no firearms in my apartment, there's less of a chance of one accidentally going off...

9. I hope for your sake the police arrive quickly if a person of ill intent enters your apartment
with a firearm over your objections.

10. You're sincerity is touching, but unnecessary.
You're sincerity is touching, but unnecessary.

With my current lifestyle and the appropriate precautions I habitually take, Vegas odds have me winning the lottery before getting held up at gun point in my apartment.

So, to ease your oh-so-sincere concern regarding my safety, rest assured that if I do indeed win the lottery, I'll simply move-- thereby reducing the odds of getting held up in my own place once again.

4. property
Doesn't the property owner have the right to regulate their own property? MY local grocery store prohibits concealed carry on their property and it is their right to do so. The people, through their elected representatives, have a right to reasonably regulate what happens on public property.

How many witnesses would refuse to testify due to legitimate fears for their life? How many judges would think twice about making an unpopular ruling on a highly contentious issue?

Under your sarcastic reasoning visitors to the WH would have an absolute right to carry a concealed weapon. Is that really something you support?

5. Employers in Kentucky can go to jail if they prohibit their employees...
from taking their gun(s) to work:

GUNS AT WORK
Are businesses forced to allow guns in the workplace? Yes

Kentucky - State law forces employers and businesses to allow guns on their privately held property. This dangerous law seeks to turn companies into criminals if they ban guns on their private property.

8. ...and ConocoPhillips is challenging that type
of law in OK. That challenge will ultimately prevail because of property rights. The owner of a property has the right to regulate that property in any manner they see fit. Government regulates the owners right, taking into account the public commons and the aggregation of affect.

More than likely a compromise will emerge. A gun owner can bring a gun to work but must leave it locked up in her car or secured in a place provided by the employer. OK law requires the gun remain locked in the car but makes no provision to account for a companies liability regarding workplace safety. For workplaces that take their responsibility for their employees safety seriously there has to be affirmative control over guns on the property. Locked in a car is not enough to balance the rights and obligations in question.

Ultimately it will be you can bring your gun to work but you must leave it in control of the company while you are there. Whether the company chooses to allow you to leave it in the car or not is up to the company.

Works like the 1st amendment. You have a right to say anything you want with reasonable limitations. I have the absolute right to remove you from my property if I do not agree with what you are saying. My rights over my own property trump your right to speech on my property just as it trumps your right to a weapon on my property.

No one has to allow guns or speech on their own property. If the Brady folks were serious about reducing gun violence they would file suit on behalf of KY property owners to protect the property owners property rights - especially in cases in which it furthers the goals of the Brady folks.
