4. This means a lot to me.
Comrade Snarky is my husband, and the pic is from my dads memorial at the Western Railway Museum in 2006. We brought his ashes out on his favorite car for one last time. Last Stop was taken as we stopped at the end of the line, got out, picked wildflowers, and then headed back.

I dearly love this photo, and thought it was an artful, evocative shot, but couldn't really separate it from my emotions. So having it win like this means the world to me.

I've attached a photo taken a few years earlier of my dad and I at the museum. That's a different car and I don't know the kid behind us, but I wanted you to see who the photo honors. Dad was never happier than when he was operating a car somewhere, something he did all over the world, literally. He was a charming man of Irish decent and could talk his way into the cab or onto the throttle just about anywhere.

Anyway thank you. I'm so happy right now I can't even express it properly.

12. Thank you.
I should be clear though, I didn't take the winning pic, Comrade Snarky did. I was good for nothing that day.

CS is on his way elsewhere on a business trip right now, but I'm sure he'll post once he gets there. I'm just so proud of him!

18. It's a wonderful photograph!
I really liked it and didn't know the story until I read your post.

I just really like it. It seems evocative and portentous...just a perfect "end of the line" captured in a shot.

5. Great final three. The loneliness of the first, the way the man seems to be
blown by the wind of the passing train, and the drama of the third earned them the well earned praise.

13. Wow
Thank you everyone.

I did not expect to win anything, I thought it would be amazing to get into the finals much less to win first place. There are some really good photographers around here. I saw Osgood Station and my first thought was "Well there's the winner". Hell of a shot JeffR. I cant believe my first entry won, how the heck am I going to live up to that?
Still, wow, really cool.

As Spooky (Hi, love you!) wrote this is more than just a snapshot to us so it really is an honor. I know Bob would be proud of his daughter and what she had to say, probably would have played it of with a pun though :-)

Now we get to see if I can handle running next months contest without screwing it up. A little pressure for the new guy!

Thanks and a :toast: to all

14. Bravo!
I had no doubt from the first that you'd win this if there was any justice. And happily, there was!

It was wonderful to hear some background about your photo, too. Here's to Bob's memory.:toast:
