The Obama campaign must get out in front of the coming crises, or else
(I just posted this as a response to a quickly-sinking thread, but I think it's a point that deserves reiterating...)

Or else the next round of Carter-esque inflation and oil crises is going to be squarely placed on the shoulders of the Democrats. Count on it. BushCo is stalling EVERYTHING just long enough to make sure the shitstorm hits full force under a Democratic administration. And of course, the media is aiding and abetting.

Obama should be talking about this NOW. Prepare America -- i.e.: "We're being set up. Things WILL be bad, but they'll be bad because of what Bush has done. You gave Bush eight years to destroy the country, please give me at a least a few to try to get it back on track before anyone starts buying into the coming Republican talking points."

Hey, I can dream can't I?

1. Thanks
for posting the obvious. Bush is finished as a president. His legacy is ruined and I hope to god, we don't get any other Bush elected to office.

3. I don't think it's that obvious.
The "obvious" part is that Dems are going to be blamed for everything Bush has wrought. What isn't obvious is why Obama (or his surrogates) aren't beating this message like a war drum. It will do no good to chime in AFTER the onslaught of blame and say "UH UH! Wasn't me!" If we're out front about it, it can mitigate the damage and undercut the GOP bullshit.

4. I agree with you
Hopefully, Obama will be shrewd enough to start getting ahead of this.

2. Actions speak louder than words.
Cut that military budget and close those bases. The neocons spent my peace dividend on global empire and new wars. The nation is being weakened because of their screwed up priorities. Personalize it by invoking the name of someone nobody wants to have a beer with. The mess we're in is Cheney's fault.

5. I haven't been paying attention..
Are Obama's speeches being televised? I know he's been all over the place, but I haven't seen one in a while.

6. Yes, he should be preparing America for the legacy Bush has left us
Because I was there when in Nixon put the "price freeze" in place in the early 70s, a failed attempt to keep inflation down. The economy started really tanking when Ford took over.

By the time Carter got into office, there wasn't enough time to get things turned around before the Shah was deposed and the Ayatolla situation took over the airwaves.

The need for both a Dem Congress and President has never been greater, lest we get nothing accomplished as the Bush shitpile lives on. We have SO much crap to clean up, and we have to do it as fast as possible without partisan tactics. There's just too much to do.

Just Obama won't be enough but he needs to be talking about what Americans can expect because of the shrub's legacy.

7. K&R - this is SO TRUE!
In the 80's there were bumperstickers that read:

"Don't Blame Me - I didn't vote for him!"

Dems (especially Obama) need to transform these old sayings into talking points!

HOWEVER, those congressional dems who have complied with the rethugs time & time again won't be credible on this issue.

8. that would NOT be a good idea prior to the election.
"he's just setting the stage for raising your taxes" would be the repuke response. among others.
