4. "I don't think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down
is a qualification to be president." That characterization of McCain's military service is both memorable and crushing. It's also not something Obama could say. But it got said, and it's making headlines. Not bad for late June.

Couldn't take pictures and hold him in the pool at the same time. :) Perhaps next week.

Don't be fooled by all the bitching coming from the Clarkies. It's the right strategy and they worked it very well.

16. This is why I've said for months that Clark
would be an inspired choice for VP. He has foreign policy as well as military credentials and comes from the south.

No, I didn't much like him as a presidential candidate in 2004. However, he would bring a tremendous amount to the ticket in 2008.

6. I think he's referring to General Clark's comments
That sounds like what Clark said. At the risk of interpreting the OP, I think it means that Clark and Obama are playing bad cop/good cop on this one. It works for me.

8. He crashed 3 or 4 times before that!
I'm just glad he went into politics and not commercial aviation, undoubtedly saving countless lives. John McCain: Shitty pilot; Wrong for America.

12. McCain: He'll crash the country too.
"McCain: He'll crash the country too." would make a nice bumper sticker.

19. Obama is disavowing Clark's talk
In his speech Monday, Obama did not directly address Clark's comments, but after calling attention to McCain's service, he said "no one should ever devalue that service, especially for the sake of a political campaign, and that goes for supporters of both sides."

"We must always express our profound gratitude for the service of our men and women in uniform. Period," he said.

Just as Obama was finishing his speech, his campaign released a statement about Clark's remarks.

"As he's said many times before, Sen. Obama honors and respects Sen. McCain's service, and of course he rejects yesterday's statement by Gen. Clark," Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton said.
