July 9th actions at Canadian Consulates in 14 U.S. cities War Resisters
Edited on Mon Jul-07-08 10:54 PM by annm4peace
Join a vigil and delegation to a Canadian consulate near you on Wednesday--the eve of U.S. war resister Corey Glass' possible deportation.

We will demand, "Dear Canada: Abide by the June 3rd resolution - Let U.S. war resisters stay!"

http://www.couragetoresist.org

Courage To Resist organizer Jeff Paterson says the war resister support group has sent 10,000 letters to the Canadian government over the last nine months on behalf of concerned Americans. Paterson, a former Marine who refused to deploy to the Gulf War, applauded the recent vote in Canada’s Parliament. “The voices of people in Canada and the U.S. are having a real effect on Canadian policy. The troops who have courageously refused to be part of an illegal war deserve a safe haven. We hope that the Canadian government will do the right thing.”

1. Please try to go to a vigil. They need you
I can't tell you how much it hurts those active military and their family members who risk a great deal by speaking out, and of course those who choose to resist and only a very small group shows up to these vigils. Some give up hope. But when there is a small crowd, they get encourage and it might just be the thing the makes them go on and not end their life.

They need us to be visible, to show our support. They don't know millions of us have been writing letters, calling our congress people, marching even before the attack on Iraq.

They need to see us, and they need us to shake their hands.

Please attend one of these vigils, and look up their # to the Canadian consulute and tell them to allow our military members to stay.
