Uncle Sam wants YOU ...smart ass!

Hey all,

The DeadElephant campaign is producing a new round of bumper-strips, badges, shirts, etc. for the fall, and we’d love to get your ideas for slogans, and topics for slogans, and comments on our latest creations. See below.

We especially need slogans on women’s issues, gay marriage, immigration hysteria, and swift-boat political tactics. Also, obviously, anything directly about McCain will be important - dishonesty, pandering, age, lobbyists, and continuity with Bush.

Bear in mind that DeadElephant.ORG slogans come in a limited number of flavors. All are ironic. All are from the perspective of an ultra-conservative, and argue for even more conservative insanity. Most have the element of cognitive dissonance, as in “Freedom – to jail anybody”, or “Jesus Loves “nucular” weapons”. Many have a strong stench of advertising shtick: “Terrorists – made fresh daily!”. Some are actual quotes from the Right, but recast in the opposite meaning: “The insurgency is in its last throes”. The most popular are usually very short – less than five words. But even your most half-baked notions are welcome as fodder for everyone else's creativity, so don't hold anything back.

"The truth is a lie" gets at something about Republicans that is deeply disturbing to me personally.

Connecting the mortgage crisis to family values is brilliant, but the slogan itself needs further work.

Your take on the implications of banning gay people from marrying is right on. Needs to be worded more tightly...

The Patriot Act itself is a hard connect for "low information voters". Of course DeadEls isn't really about reaching out to convince voters. It's more about demonstrating solidarity among those who already hold progressive (traditional American) values. I'm just thinking out loud here...
