Sometimes I think of the weirdest things in the shower
Today, I wondered how many of our presidents were bald, and just how many members of congress were bald. I think the train of thought started with my bemoaning that women candidates are quite often judged by the way they look. Then it occurred to me that I haven't noticed too many men candidates who were bald. I wonder if this phenomenon relates to valuing female candidates based on attractiveness. In my research (only google) it appears that there were 5 bald presidents.

If given a choice of two male candidates who were equal on all accounts except that one had a full head of hair and one didn't, do you think that you would be influenced by the baldness factor?

2. What about a clean shaven face? Not many mustachioed or bearded presidents either.
John Stewart called Bill Richardson's beard the, "I realize that I'm never going to be president beard."

3. Facial hair is optional
One can always shave it off. Lack of head hair is hard to overcome.

10. Sad, isn't it?
How many good candidates have we lost because of lack of hair?

Many years ago Biden got hair implants for just this reason. I don't blame him one bit.

13. I agree
We acknowledge that focusing on a woman candidate's appearance as sexism, yet we are reluctant to vote for a bald guy. Don't blame me though, I'm married to a beautiful bald guy...ya know what they say.....

Besides that, they say that grass doesn't grow on a well traveled road.

15. There Was an Article in the Late 80s
Discussing the use of the term "neo-liberal". It was being used in a positive way, Gary Hart being a chief example. The article showed a lineup of prominent Democrats with very similar views, and pointed out that neoliberal was NEVER used to describe politicians who were short, bald, or uncharismatic.

Yes, it makes a difference, although it probably shouldn't.
