This Post Is For All the Woman
Edited on Thu Jul-10-08 08:30 PM by lynettebro440
who supported Clinton and are now saying that they won't vote for Obama and some that will actually vote for mcsame. Can I just say being a woman myself, what the hell is wrong with you guys.

I was a teenager before Rove vs Wade came along. If all you women that weren't around during those days let me just share some news with you. It sucked. If you don't remember the women's movement, the fights that we clawed our way through to prove that women were just as smart as men, we broke walls for all of you to now play games with all women's rights. You sound like married women who hold sex over their husbands just to feel power. It's pathetic.

I feel like women that are saying "I won't vote for Obama under any circumstances" I want to say you can basically kiss your uterus goodbye. You know that lovely birth control that you currently are getting, well girls those days will be over too. And unwanted pregnancies, huh let me paint a inside view of what it will be like. You first have to find someone to help you, your medical physicians and health care workers will say "Hey it's your problem." The only option is to find someone who has set up shop usually in some crappy room that will even be willing to risk their life to help you out. If you want me to get into graphic detail I will. It isn't fun, it isn't the little fluffy life that you all have gotten used to. Your body will no longer be yours. Hell if mcsame gets elected rape will probably go back to being a slap on the wrist.

Employment, honey you will be the women that hike your skirts up so the boss will take notice. Your days of thinking your opinion counts will be halted with men telling you to "Shut up and look pretty." You thinking that you can say whatever is on your mind to men, heck they will have the right to beat the shit out of you and nobody will come to your rescue.

Now seriously, just with that little bit of information don't you think it's a little important that we take this vote thing seriously. If you seriously want to lose control of what my generation of women helped you to achieve, you will shut your mouths and vote for the man who will leave your uterus's alone, will listen to what it is you have to say, and will guarantee to take us forward instead of 40 years back wards. Just my opinion and thanks for listening.

1. If you want equality and rights and freedom, you will shut your mouth?
Freedom is slavery? Huh?

And yes, I have ovaries.

4. It isn't a time to bitch
it's a time for holding what little rights we have left. mcsame will take abortion away and it's going to be a long time before you over take the supreme court. This is a huge thing and I don't think most women today really understand. But think about the next generation.

49. I don't think so.
Later on with the honey part, sure.

But the part where she likens withholding a vote to make a point to withholding sex, I think she just meant that, and meant it as both a metaphor and as a way to attack women based on their sexuality. She managed to reinforce negative stereotypes about women with that, and pulled in the idea that "good" wives have sex with their men when the men want it, even if the women are pissed off. Not having sex when you're mad, making your own decisions about your body, it's manipulative - that's what she's reinforcing in her so called feminism.

8. lynettebro440 and your opinion is based in fact...
The women that are saying these things...are assuming nothing will change because things have been going fairly decent.

I would liken these women to Nader voters...(many will be pissed about this) but it's true....No matter what the cost is (an election) these people are selfish and petulant. They will not take any responsiblity if they put McCain over the top, they will act shocked, dismayed and surprised when the Supreme Court turns so far right that women in America will be rated lower than woman in 3rd world countries. They will blame everyone else except themselves...

I would add a comment to these women, "Maybe you don't care about yourselves, but it's your daughters that will feel the result of your vote for McCain"!

No you are right on....K & R

First off, according to the poll analysts, many of those women voters are to old now to need
birth control, for one thing and Obama has made comments that Choice shouldn't be so easy.

Both camps have the same candidate essentially.

Hey breeze, do you seriously believe that? That Obama's SCOTUS nominees and McCains would be the same? I am a rapid pro-choicer and what Obama said, in context, was not that bad. McCain would take us so much further backwards, as far as women's rights. I have a difficult time believing you truly believe "Both camps have the same candidate essentially.".

29. He declared himself emperor at our first meeting.
A feral cat living in the garage of a house I bought, he stalked up to receive some worship in the form of scratches. When I stopped before he was done, he swiped out at my hand with his claw and drew blood. Quite a bit of blood.

I neutered him, and he eventually became partially civilized, although he terrorized every dog who came in contact with him.

Being feral, he did not take to confinement in the house. He didn't come home one 4th of July 4 years ago; I'd had him for 4 years at that point.

His name was "Lucy," and his pic was posted in the old DU gallery, which is now defunct. At least, I can't find it anymore. It was part of "demopedia."

I'm not sure who he'd choose as campaign manager. Someone who knows how to take orders and get results, I'm sure.

21. Question. Is this a rant saying "a vote for Mccain is a vote against women's rights"?
If so, I agree with you. I was around pre-Roe V Wade and it was harsh. Equality in a lot of ways has NOT been achieved yet, but it was so much worse then and I can see it returning to those bad old days. My mother said she always resented having to discuss finances with my father in that he worked/money income, she took care of home/kids and had a checking account, but if more money was needed, if something happened, she always resented feeling like she had to "ask" for more money. It wasn't equality in how it felt, even though they had agreed that he'd work outside home, she inside.

Had 2 friends get pg. 1 went to unwed mother's home (the shame!), 1 went to NY for an abortion (the shame!). We were taught that having sex could very well result in getting pregnant and then you were stuck with whomever it was so be careful who you had sex with. Condoms were available in gas station bathrooms, for men. Not for women.

Women were secretaries, or nurses, or teachers, if they "had" to work. Or until they were able to marry.

There is a certain age of women that do not understand what it was like, but can see only how far there is left to go. As I cannot understand what it was like to not be able to vote.

If this was just a sexist rant, well, I'm glad you read my reply anyway. A vote for McCain is a vote against women. No, no one has to shut up, or feel as I do, but recognize that basic fact.

it wasn't a sexist rant it was an angry woman that feels like know one is listening, just like when we went to war. I don't want to see the supreme court over turning what we have worked hard to make right. And I got pregnant the first time I had sex, came from a catholic family and was living far from home working for the airlines. It was horrific, I felt like a horrible piece of meat. I was young and dumb and the people that did the abortion were horrible. I don't want to see the next generation of women go through this. Thanks again for understanding.

the way women are acting here they will be enlightened quickly if mcsame gets in. This doesn't effect me either, but it will effect my daughter and her daughters and I'm not willing to sit back and watch quietly. I may not be a scholar or english major but I sure the hell am someone that remembers real clearly what it was like. Unlike a lot of my generation who so easily forget what life was like I for one am going to speak loudly that what your playing with here is not about one man, it's about the rights of women and others that can just as easily be taken away as the 4th amendment. And just because all you righteous either men or women with your critical comments, I hope in the future you walk in the shoes of what it feels like. Then maybe you might understand.

What about just plain old party loyalty? When you speak you speak like a true democrat and that is to be admired. I feel anyone who does not vote in support of their democratic party should not complain about a damn thing!!!
People like this wonder why we are defeated by nasty republicans.

50. I'm of the generation that preceeded Roe v. Wade
I got pregnant at 17 and had to go to Japan all alone to get an abortion. I was one of the lucky ones because I could afford to do that (just barely).

I do have to say, though, that I think the number of Clinton supporters (male and female) who say they won't vote for Obama are vastly exaggerated. It's a great story for the corporate media (although, they aren't even talking about it much any more). It's clear that some of the people behind the "I won't vote for him" garbage are Republican disruptors. Others, I believe, are honest Republicans who can't stomach McCain and thought Clinton was an option for them. Now that she's gone, they've gone back to the Republicans. I think that leaves very few Democrats who won't vote for Obama.
