GOP site seeks platform ideas
Edited on Sat Jul-12-08 09:54 AM by IDemo
Barbara Barrett
WASHINGTON - National Republican leaders, led in part by U.S. Sen. Richard Burr, today will unveil a Web site encouraging national participation in shaping the GOP's 2008 party platform.

The platform site, which is at www.gopplatform2008.com , will create an online community allowing anyone with access to a computer to offer ideas and comment on others' ideas. People will also be able to submit videos explaining their views.

"I feel certain we'll get some great ideas," :) Burr said in an interview Thursday. "Will that be the majority? I have no way of gauging."

The Winston-Salem Republican is co-chairman of the Republican platform committee alongside U.S. Rep. Kevin McCarthy of California.

2. Throw out our platform and start over. That would be the best suggestion.
Burr is my LEAST favorite NC congress critter. Yuck. I don't like Liddy, but at least she doesn't DO anything.

12. Where on earth did they get this idea from?
But on a less sarcastic note, is it worth the trouble to create accounts and fill up their bucket with the most odious hateful and stupid things we can dream up?

Oh wait, obviously there is no point in that at all.

16. starting to read it and two things...
they are just getting back the drivel their talking heads have been spewing - no new ideas, and the policies being suggested would just lower their electability!

Oh there are a few *new* ideas:

National Security : Border Security
(Jack - St. Louis, MO) See all submissions July 12 - 6:35 AM
The illegals aren't going to stop infiltrating our country until we create a strong enough deterrent, which I why I propose using the death penalty against anyone who has not entered our country by legal means.

And then there is stuff that makes no sense - can anyone explain this post?

Health Care : Health care reform
(Grant - Huntington, WV) See all submissions July 12 - 5:59 AM
I am 22 years old, I have a serious heart condition...with the current regulations/structure I am UNINSURABLE, except through state/fed insurance. No offense to medicare/medicaid, but my state lacks specialist qualified for my condition. So, basically...why don't you guys get government out of health care.

Er - he wants NO health care as he stated that the private insurance companies won't insure him?

The next one has to be a joke...

Education : Elementary/secondary education
(John - Houston, TX) See all submissions July 12 - 4:35 AM
Stop funding public education and let our kids go after each other with pitchforks. All the real learnin' is in the good book anyway.

Now here is some good advice (if you want to ensure a democratic landslide!)

Values : Other
(Charles - Windsor, SC) See all submissions July 12 - 2:26 AM
