Bill Clinton was a guest speaker at the National Governor's Association Centennial Meeting in Philadelphia. He was received warmly and gave a great speech.

A lot has been said about Bill's conduct this past primary, but what a mind this man possesses. His intelligence, knowhow and wide wonkish interests in so many subjects reminded me of his years in the White House. Yes, they were controversial times, but today he reminded me why I have liked and respected this man since he came into the national scene in 1992.

God, how I wish he was the one still sitting in the Oval Office instead of the sub-par guy who replaced him!!!!!

1. Did he say anything about the nominee?
I wonder when they will finally appear together.

I wish a diseased rodent was sitting in the Oval Office instead of the sub-par guy we now have.

Or is that redundant.

5. No he didn't that I recall.
It was more about the centennial and how much governors can do in their states for health care, energy efficiency, jobs, etc. More meat and potato issues, not a political speech.

6. Yeah, well.........
I was trying to be respectful of the office, if not the man.

7. She would have been a great president and I hope that some day she will have another chance at it.
My dream was for Clinton/Obama the next 8 years and then Obama/? the following 8. Well, if the order is reversed, I would be fine with that too.

4. Sub-par is a massive understatement! Besides that I agree completely...

I am a rabid Obama supporter, but for me there are no hard feelings when it comes to Bill. He is the best POTUS of my lifetime, by a long shot!

9. Yes he was.
I was over at my sister's house, and got in an argument with her girlfriend who supports McCain (why do people continue to vote against there best interests?). She said she didn't want to see anymore of that a**hole Clinton or his B**** wife. I said "yeah, that 8 years of economic growth and relative peace really sucked". Then I had to hear 5 minutes of why that was due to the previous president- the old "economic policies of current presidents don't show results until the next" meme. I can't understand it. Of course, she is a cop and prone to authotarian figures.

I thinking this morning how Clinton's charisma and intelligence had such a positive influence on the nation. This country was not founded on religious principles or fear or revolt. This country was founded on hope. Hope that is inspired by great leaders. Here's hoping that Barack Obama uses his charisma and intelligence to inspire this country to aggressively work its way after eight years of doom, gloom, fear and tyranny.

10. Yeah, too bad Bill turned into a racist hate-monger with no principles at all.
That is, according to many of the posters here at DU, he did.

Hillary, too. According to the posts I read here on DU for months and months and months, both Clintons turned into evil liars who are as bad as Hitler, Stalin, Nixon or GW Bush ever were.

11. Bill may be a lot of things, but racist is not one of them.
Ditto for Hillary. But you're right, many times both Clintons were treated as bad by the left as they were by the right. During the primary I would see threads and posts directly lifted from RW sites like the Freepers. It has been interesting to cruise through the various LF blogs after the FISA vote and notice how many are now changing their tune and appreciating Hillary more than they did before.
