2. From Wikipedia:
Political interests and contributions
Since 1980, Pickens has made over $5 million in political donations.<7> He was a financial supporter of President George W. Bush and contributed heavily to both his Texas and national political campaigns.

In 2004, Pickens contributed to 527 Republican groups, including a $3 million contribution to the Swift Vets and POWs for Truth attacking Bush's rival, John Kerry, and $2.5 million to the Progress for America advocacy group. In 2005, Pickens was among 53 entities that contributed the maximum of $250,000 to the second inauguration of President George W. Bush.<13><14><15>

On July 16, 2007, Pickens wrote an article for the National Review supporting Rudy Giuliani for President. "In Rudy Giuliani, a gracious and committed public servant I’ve known for many years, we see that rare blend of big-picture vision and proven track record of achieving the “impossible.” We see a forward-looking, accomplished executive eager to tackle the challenges of today’s America and ensure that tomorrow we wake up stronger, freer, and more united than ever before."<8> Pickens was an executive-committee member of the Rudy Giuliani Presidential Committee.

Pickens chaired the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the American Spectator, a conservative U.S. monthly magazine covering news and politics.<16>

4. I am sure Pickens is in it for the money. He sees where things are going, and
figures that it is long time before we reach "peak-wind". Too bad such a good idea has to have a total schmuck as its supporter.

6. So we should keep buying oil from the rest of the world instead of moving to alternative energies?

9. He's only advocating alternative energies to replace foreign oil, not domestic
He thinks it's fine to pay Americans for oil and gas but not foreigners.

If we are going to be buying oil, and we are for the foreseeable future, why wouldn't we buy from the rest of the world? Oh, cause "Ole T. Boone say don't buy dat non-Merican oil!"

5. T. Boone Pickens is a scum suckin bottom feeder but
he's also about the only oil guy who is at least talking about alternative energy.

The oil industry has successfully fought against alternative energy for decades. For years I've wondered why, since they have lots of smart scientists and engineers and other talented people, weren't they at least doing minimal research. Seemed to me, even back in the early 70's that if some big oil company found a viable alternative they could corner the market. Isn't that what Standard Oil did?

So yeah, T Boone is a bottom feeding scum sucking white trash - fill in your own term here - he's also the only one in his industry who's paying for a national ad for alternative energy. I don't think he's a very trust worthy person but at least he's spending a little of his own cash to stir things up, and it isn't for swift boaters this time.

11. He may be a scum sucker
But I love the ads and figure they can only help Barack Obama and the Dems since Pickens is countering what Chimpy and McBush is saying. I think old T. Boone is going to resonate with a lot of Republican and Independent voters.

I went to his website and signed up to get his emails. It can't hurt.

10. Personally, I Care Less About Who Gets the Credit
than about the progress of alternatives to oil.

Wind power is a natural for the energy industry. Let 'em have a oil industry icon to encourage more development.

15. "Beware Greeks, er Oilmen bearing gifts".
I'd rather see the government do it than T-Bone.

He's planning on selling you energy from air at the same cost as energy from oil.
