Stupid legal question of the day - effects of perjury
Okay, so perjury is perjury, be it Clinton's or Libby's, though it's obvious to sane people how very, very different the two cases are.

But here's the real question: shouldn't the effects of perjury be part of the legal process?

Clinton's lying about a personal matter had no direct impact on anyone other than his family. It ended there.

Libby's lying is part of a chain of events that affects every single American, every single Iraqi, and every single member of the "coalition of the willing." War affects millions. Blowjobs don't. (Hey, another bumpersticker!)

Seriously, though, are the direct effects of perjury part of the legal process? If someone is found guilty of perjury, can the process be continued legally by asking this question and furthering investigation? Can we make a citizen's arrest or something to that effect?

1. Well we know one thing for sure
Congress ain't gonna take it any further.

It's time all of us sent a message to our reps in DC....one that simply states, "I do my job every day...you have to do yours too."

Non binding resolutions, talk talk talk...all the time talk about all these 'investigations' they are GOING to do......I wish they would just shut up and do it and get this country back on track again.

So they are worried about what people will think if they don't back the extra war funding...so what. Stick your neck out and find out. They might be pleasantly surprised to find the PEOPLE WHO ELECTED THEM will continue to support them.

I wish we could make a citizen's arrest. It would be so easy (and soooo very much fun!)

2. Agreed......
I'm encouraged by the growing number of state-sponsored impeachment resolutions.

Really though....maybe one of the brilliant people here at DU will stumble across some little-known legal avenue that could be pursued now that Libby has actually been found guilty of perjury and since this is at a level affecting national interests. National security! It would be delicious to be able to file a class-action lawsuit or something like that.

Maybe the Wilson's civil suit will serve this purpose in some way.

Obviously I'm an idiot about legal matters, but a girl can dream...:)
