1. This whole year has been hard
The general feeling of everything crashing down has been oppressive. I can only hope (there's that word again) that there is something to look forwards to. I genuinely believe if Obama wins there will be a real wave of relief in this country. Wether or not he merits it or not.

2. Somewhere on YouTube there may be videos of civilians shredded to pieces
by "suicide bombers" for whom the glory of death is more important than celebration of life.

Where poor Palestinians women are being given a choice of being stoned to death for alleged adultery, or for being disfigured, and killing the ones who offer health and comfort, and who happen to be Israelis.

You can glorify death (with or without 70 virgins) I will celebrate life.

3. Yes.
Reading the story of the torture of the 16 year old Canadien.
The torture and murder of the young Afganistan man who was hit in the knees and hung by his hands to the ceiling.
These make me sad and ashamed of America.

4. I have to believe that things will get better
or I wouldn't be able to get out of bed in the morning.

kpete, here's a  and let's believe there will be positive and lasting change in our lifetimes.

5. I've been having a real bad couple of months
Why does solidarity in sadness make us feel better? We're a fucked up species we are.

6. sadness does not necessarily
make us feel better

but it does make me feel more real, more alive
and more able to cope - when I can share feelings with others who CARE.
thank you, kp
