Former Tenn. state senator convicted in corruption

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A federal jury has convicted a former Tennessee state senator for taking money from government contractors and lobbying for them while he served in the Senate.
It's the second corruption conviction for John Ford, who was once one of the state's most powerful lawmakers. He was sentenced last year to 5 1/2 years in prison for taking bribes to influence legislation favoring a fake company created by the FBI.
Ford accepted more than $800,000 from contractors for the state's expanded Medicare program. He claimed all his consulting work was legal and performed out of state.
He could face up to 60 years on the charges, but his actual sentence would likely be lower. Ford did not speak to media after Friday's verdict.

It shocks me that it's Dems here in Tenn who screw up more. The new sheriff in Hamilton County (Chattanooga) was convicted here not to long ago because he was dirty. Several Dems went down in the "Tennessee Waltz" sting. One thing I can say about that one, though... my workers comp attorney at the time was none other than (then current) State Senator Jeff Miller. I got a little worried at first, but he came out of it clean, through 2 investigations...
