An open letter to Ms. Pelosi

Madame Speaker,

We're not stupid.

Today, you called George W. Bush a 'failure'.

That was interesting.

I'm sure you're aware of this:

Here's what politicians do....let's say there's a parade of people.

The people settle on the direction they're marching in. They begin marching.

Politicians, well, they get out in front of that column and lead.

Madame Speaker, it's clear to anyone with half a brain why you waited two years to call Bush a 'failure'.

You were waiting to see which way the wind was blowing.

You *waited* to see which way the wind was *definitively* blowing.

Now, while that was smart for you to do politically...after all, you're someone who's making a career out of service...

It was, at the end of the day, inarguably a disservice to the Nation.

You see, we may not have had the two years to waste for you to....prove to us all that you're clever.

Sweetie, we know you're clever. You got to be Speaker. You didn't need to prove it to anyone anymore.

These people, the ones we gave you the majority so that you could stop them...have robbed *two* countries blind.

They've tortured people in the name of freedom.

They've borrowed 10 trillion from the Chinese to fund a two front war....while looting the American treasury in a tax-cutting, no-bid orgy.

They've sold our children, and grandchildren down the river.

For a buck.

Now, Obama's going to win.

Great. The economy's still tanking. Our military is apparently riddled with a cadre of officers that seemingly think it's their moral duty to attack Iran before January, so that Jesus will come back. The housing market is imploding, unemployment is skyrocketing, our debt is exploding, our fuel is running out, the retail price of food has climbed 85% in the last two years, the dollar is tanking, and it costs eighty bucks to fill up.

Lest we forget how much you've forked over for Defense spending in the last eight years. I don't even know how much you've given to our hogs at the trough....out of fear...

Tell us all how much we've spent in real dollars on Bush's folly.

And you got your first verbal shot off on Bush today. Whoopee.

Personally, I'm not impressed.

Oh, right; you were one of the 'gang of eight' that knew about the renditions, black prisons and torture...all along.

And you got that bitch Stenny Hoyer to take the shot for you on the bill.

Classy. What did you promise him for that, I wonder.

Today, you get to be smug. Only because you're now convinced of something the country's known for some time.

If you're looking for a failure, look no further than the closest mirror.

In the future, try Barbara Bush as a template for success. Sure, she's evil, but at least she has balls. And a spine.

the reality that challenging Bush at every turn - and yes impeachment - is not only the right thing to do, but is good poltics. They still mostly treat him like the big swinging dick everyone thought he was after he landed on the air craft carrier. The only place where Bush isn't a total joke is in the minds of the Beltway pols and opinion leaders. He could be at ZERO in the polls and the Dems would still be scared of being called terrorist appeasers.
