Man arrested for videotaping 'Dark Knight'
Grandview man arrested for videotaping 'Dark Knight'
By KEVIN HOFFMANN
The Kansas City Star

An attempt to take in scenes from the hottest movie in town, “The Dark Knight,” has a Grandview man in legal trouble.

Lee’s Summit police last night arrested a 40-year-old man for illegally videotaping the latest Batman film.

According to police, officers were called about 9:40 p.m. to the Eastglen theaters, where security officials there told police they had caught the man making the bootleg copy.

Police later obtained a warrant to search the man’s home and vehicle and found evidence of several illegal DVDs.

Crowds have been packing local theaters since the “The Dark Knight” opened in the area early Friday morning.

4. It's not only theft (potentially big time), but a desecration of the filmmaker's artistic intent
Bad, second, generation bootleg copies of films get sold en masse in Asia. It can be big business (don't know if that's what this guy intended) but, more than that, it destroys the artistic integrity of the film (if there is any, but that's not my judgment to make).
