I phoned her twice this week, saying " Thank you for finally allowing hearings that will air some of the wrongs of this (p)resident. I work with Republicans who feel perfectly comfortable voting Republican, because this hasn't happened yet. This should have happened a year and a half ago, but better late than never: so, again, thanks!" A year ago, I phoned her to the tune of "Off the table because it will distract from the important business for the American people? That's the Constitution! Don't you realize that any statesmanship on a good bill and a winning vote will just get vetoed? And a heroic effort that succeeds in a veto-proof vote, will just get another unconstitutional signing-statement!" So, this time, I should have said: "Let's see; repeated funding of war-crimes and profiteering, immunity on crimes that haven't been understood or investigated in the least, sending the 4th amendment to the dog house, and a fist-full of ignored subpoenas, - oh, yes, and the administration still comfy in their false aura of legitimacy -is that the people's business?"
