2. The oil that they'd get from new offshore sites is pre-refined
That's why they want it so badly, for the good of the American people. Why do you hate the American people?

3. Then why have oil majors bought refineries and closed them down?
They've been buying up smaller refineries for years and then closing them down. Refineries can only get enough oil to run at 85% capacity now.

4. It's a red herring
but it will be spun as a viable solution to our energy woes.

Our refineries are working at capacity right now. The oil companies have plenty of places they already have leases on to dril, but don't.

This is all about putting out there a perception the the Repugs can fix our energy problems with more drilling.

I honestly don't care if we drill in places that everyone else is already, but for crissake be honest about what that will really get us.

Oh wait. Honesty isn't in the GOP game plan. If this was so important to us then why didn't they make it happen when the GOP controlled everything? Because it is only important when it is politically expedient to do so.

7. The oil off the coasts don't even need to be refined
Each well, depending on how deep you drill, will give you
gasoline, diesel or airplane grade, its even environmental
friendly to the fish and sea life and can be even used as food.
