Poll question: The author of the linked editorial states that...
"The only way to spare the Middle East and the entire world from another devastating cycle of bloodshed is to let the Iranians have their nuclear toy."

Do you agree with this statement?

4. Other.
"The only way to spare the Middle East and the entire world from another devastating cycle of bloodshed is to let the Iranians have their nuclear toy."

The statement is way too black and white to make any sense.

Too many conditions to give it a blanket no or yes.

I don't think I'm following your reasoning there.

7. It's not a nuclear toy. It's nuclear power plants and the IAEA has said as much.
There is zero evidence that Iran is building a nuclear weapon and they have the legal right to build power plants.

8. You may be right.
I happen to agree, however, with the statement Noam Chomsky made that given the circumstances and all that has transpired over the last eight years, Iran would be insane NOT to be trying to develop or procure nuclear weapons.

13. Have to agree with the author.
Iran has reached that Iron Curtain mentality - They feel that the rest of the world is arrayed against them and the only thing that will make them feel secure is nuclear capability.

15. If you were in Iran's shoes would you be...
...pursuing nuclear capability?

I think I would. I don't have any confidence at all that the U.S./Israeli alliance would enter into honest, good faith negotiations with Iran. AIPAC wants the same for Iran that we served up to Iraq -- utter destruction.

16. Keyword = "let"
and therein lies the dilemma.. Iran is NOT a signatory to a treaty that prevents them from having nuclear "abilities".

It's a dumb thing to want, but hey, so is owning a huge SUV when a small car will suffice.

Rummy & Cheney were GUNG-HO to get Iran started down the nuclear path, when they thought nuclear enegry for Iran would free up more oil for US...but then the shah fell, and all of a sudden nuclear was no longer a great idea..

We cannot have it both ways.. Either a country is sovereign or it's not.

We can voice our concern and even displeasure, but it's not up to US..

By giving Israel the "look away" when they were getting nukes, we virtually ALLOWED and encouraged all neighbors to do the same..

17. can't agree: NO ONE should have nuclear weapons. Including US.
We should be barreling full speed after that goal, and drop everything else. Nukes will kill us all.
