Might Want To Watch This Video
Edited on Mon Jul-21-08 10:35 AM by erpowers
Some member of the DU community may want to watch this video about whether Americans are stupid. I tend to think the video is fake just because I do not believe Americans are that uninformed. In addition, one of the people in the video, a guy, at one point when asked about a question said "okay" and then gave a stupid answer. So what do others think? I amy come back and post some other films. I posted the second video in order to show how the video maker was supposedly able to fool a group of people into believing he was Australian Prime Minister John Howard and to show how people in Texas was supposedly willing to support the attack of just about any country as long as Bush wanted to attack that country. I really hope this film is fake. If it is not fake this is really sad.

2. You know how dumb the average person is...
...Half of them are dumber than that.

Nationality has nothing to do with it.

3. They're not stupid
They're not stupid, they're ignorant (the original meaning of the word: uninformed).

You could argue that ignorant people are more likely to be stupid than not because stupid people aren't really interested in learning facts about the world around them which they see as not pertaining to their daily lives, whereas intelligent people know that everything in the world has, or could potentially have, an influence on their daily lives. But even intelligent people may be ignorant because they don't have enough time to broaden their horizons.

OTOH, always remember that one US President (surprisingly, not a Bush) was astounded to learn that 50% of Americans were of below average intelligence. He wanted something done to improve the situation...

4. Did He Do Anything
Did that President do anything. If he did, what did he do?

5. There was nothing he could do
Once it was explained to him that, by definition, 50% of the population is below average intelligence and that even if there were some miracle pill that could double everyone's intelligence, half of them would still be below the (now twice as high) average.
