Fed-up Christian families moving toward 'secession'
The Plan of Action
ChristianExodus.org is moving Christian constitutionalists to specific cities and counties in South Carolina through a series of emigrations. Our board of directors considers the values of this state to be very similar to the values held by our membership. Additionally, South Carolina possesses a rich history of standing up for her rights.

The cities and counties will be selected based upon, but not limited to, the following criteria:

Voter turnout in primary elections.
Voter turnout in general elections.
Moral nature of the electorate.
Cost of living/housing.
Economic and employment opportunity.
Christian educational choices (including home school networks).
Availability of churches.
The number of Christian paleo-conservative activists already there.

I'm going to Charleston & see if "The Star of the West" is heading to Ft. Sumter again.
We tried this one time. The clue phone is ringing for those people.

5. Let them all go to one place, then let that state secede. We would be much better
without that trash.

An alternative would be to encourage them to meet their maker as soon as possible so that they can "live" happily ever after. Sort of Armageddon without the collateral damage.

Another reconstituted bunch of fundamentalist, Christian bigots who want to leave mainstream society and set up their own system of religion, politics, government, and education as well as their restrictive code of social mores.

16. They need to join their fundy brethren in Florida
and the reasons are numerous. Among them:

1. Florida already has a huge amount of fundies.
2. Florida has a real estate crash going on. Property is dirt cheap now,
probably cheaper than most parts of SC.
3. Florida is out of the way. If they secede, nobody will notice.
4. Florida is on the Caribbean storm track, lots of possibilities to smite
your jerk of a next door neighbor.
5. Best of all, Florida is sinking.

22. SC makes FL look like Manhattan
1. SC probably has more fundies per capita than FL
2. FL real estate could crash for several more years ans it would still be 10X what it is in SC
3. SC is more remote than FL. SC is the state folks drive through to get to FL. You might think NC would be the state folks drive through to get to SC, but you'd be wrong, because nobody's going to SC.
4. FL has more storms, but SC has its share. Plus earthquakes and nuclear radiation at Savannah River.
5. SC might not be sinking, but it's really, really backward, much more so than most of Fl.

Edited on Mon Jul-21-08 04:34 PM by Ilsa
The US is not going to let them secede. If the leaders of these bozos would stop stealing the money, they could afford to leave and go build their own paradise. Just go, and leave the rest of us alone!

(They better not look for an island in the Carribbean, though. The women won't want to wear the dresses up to their necks and down to their ankles in the tropics. And God might decide to take out his wrath on them in the form of a hurricane.)

Stupid, yes. Dull, no. They can't hold a candle to Bob Jones U.

They have truly made their own world, and they make a lot of fundies

look sane. I went to Clemson U, and for Sunday missions, they came over and

tried to convert us. We had BJU alerts. Faster response to that than a fire alarm.

39. They're trying to take over here too
First step was when the religious reichers stole the Republican party from the Dan Evans & John Spellman types. Then they started up think tanks like the Evergreen "Freedom" Foundation and the Discovery Institute. The next step was an attempt at stealing the governor's mansion, which they're obviously going to try again. Ironically enough, it was Sam Reed, who might well be the last "old school" Republican to hold office in this state who threw a monkey wrench into those plans. He was never a friend of the extreme right. Too bad he's probably the last of his kind in this state.

No sense inflicting even more of their ilk on poor suffering South Carolina. (Wasn't Charleston the only county in the state that went blue?)

Hell, if every fundamentalist nutcase in the US wants to pack up and leave the country, I'd be happy to let them.

40. Guess where in SC they're headed?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Exodus

Christian Exodus is a Christian secessionist group promoting a mass emigration of fundamentalist Christians to South Carolina with the goal of influencing the governmental process in the state. It has announced intentions to move people to selected cities and counties of South Carolina in stages, with each stage timed to influence a particular election cycle. The group has the stated goal of relocating more than 50,000 people. The first city in South Carolina targeted is Anderson, South Carolina. The group claims that some 15 families are already in Anderson, South Carolina, ready for the full Exodus.

Yes, Anderson, SC, represented in the state Senate by this charmer:
