Can you imagine if Maliki backed McCain's plan for Iraq
Instead of "White House irked by Maliki's support for Obama", we'll see "Bush Administration promises Maliki he'll live another day"

Fox News?

"Iraq supports McCain. Could this be the end of the line for Obama?"

The 'liberal media'?

"Iraq supports McCain. Could this be the end of the line for Obama?"

You get the idea.

But then again, Maliki would never support McCain. What kind of psychopath would want to have a hundred year war in Iraq, right?

What president would want their country occupied for 100 years?

I know what you're saying though. It would have been all over the news. Pundits would be asking when Obama is going to drop out of the race. The media following Obama around would spend every second trying to destroy him. It would not be pretty.

Only in the US would a foreign president's near total endorsement of a candidates plan be debated as to if the president actually meant it.
