"John McCain is too old to be President in my opinion."
"I have just been informed that my nametag says I'm Senator John McCain. Am I running to be President? What is this place?"

"Has anyone else noticed that I look like that really old dude at the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey?"

OMG! That's ageism! That's like being racist, only for old people.

No it isn't you twit, when was the last time you got black as you got older, or you turned gay as you got older? If everything works out, we'll all be getting old some day, and someone will be making fun of us. And you can't tell me this prick didn't pick on old people in his day either!

1. All this talk of age, and of issues is ignoring the really important problem with McCain.
His head is shaped like a freakin' peanut! Fat at the top, fat at the bottom, and skinny in the middle. He's a peanut head. We can't have our country represented around the world by a freakin' peanut head!

2. Now that's a little shallow...
Being a peanut head may not cause him to make improper decisions. It's bad enough that a young dumb ass was manipulated by Cheney, I can only imagine what would happen to McCain.

4. It's not how many birthdays the man has had
it's how shallow and lazy he's become in the last decade. He can't remember where he's stood on any of the issues because he's just been a place holder, voting the way the lobbyists tell him to vote.

In addition, there's a really troubling hint of early dementia.

Our bodies age at different rates. Someone with ten more birthdays than McCain has had might be sharp as a tack and physically active, the whole package--my dad sure was. Other people ten years younger than he is can be dying of the diseases associated with aging.

McCain is too old to be president not because of the number of birthdays he's had but because of how quickly his body and mind are aging.

He is not qualified. He needs to retire.

5. I don't know...If you take away the encroaching senility, the fits of
uncontrollable rage, the self-admitted economic cluelessness, the war-lust, the legendary temper, the reversal of his positions on every issue, the Keating Five scandal, the hot-headed outbursts, the craven influence-peddling and the shocking misogyny, he does have a kind of folksy charm.

6. You nailed it.
I have a wonderful uncle who's got 20+ years on McCain. Uncle Frank is partially paralyzed from a stroke and can't see much because of macular degeneration. He's still got twice the intelligence and three times the wit as McCain, not to mention that he, too, did his service (in WWII), raised a family on a modest salary, and is a real leader to his immediate and our larger family.

Uncle Frank is physically in not-so-great shape. Mentally, he's still sharp as a tack, and quite witty, to boot.

If the election were between 93-yr.-old Uncle Frank and McCain, Uncle Frank would be, hands down, the better candidate.

7. Fact of life: when people get old, they cannot handle a high-pressure job.
No one should be allowed to run for President if they are over, say, 60. Your vision deteriorates, your mental faculties begin to lag, your health begins to degrade. You become more prone to disease and debilitating conditions. Your immune system starts to collapse. You can't stay awake and alert for a full 16-hour day (assuming 8 hours for sleep). You're probably on multiple meds for a variety of conditions. Yes, there are exceptions where people in their 90s are sharper than people in their 50s, but they're just that: exceptions (and McCain ain't one of them).

The bottom line is: this isn't a job pushing papers at a desk. It's the presidency of the United States of America. It's probably THE most high-pressured responsibility that anyone can assume. Give it to a codger who's pushing the 3/4 century mark? NO THANKS! There are things in this world people just aren't cut out to do.
