Why does it seem that everyone has completely forgotten post-Gulf War Iraq?
Edited on Fri Jul-25-08 01:04 PM by Texas Explorer
Allied forces had Iraq sewed up tight with economic/military sanctions which facilitated the infamous Oil for Food Program, in which Iraq was allowed to trade oil in return for food. There were also the no-fly zones and constant bombardment for the littlest neafarious move by Saddam. Saddam and Iraq were more concerned with obtaining food than developing WMD under the thumb of Allied forces.

Everyone seems to forget the formidable wall put up around Iraq when talking about WMD and attempts to smuggle in weapons grade uranium - or anything else for that matter.

1. IMO, it's because nobody really cared about containing Hussein
"Judge a man by his actions"- the fact that most Americans don't care about WMDs or Genocide unless there is some sort of profit to be made for us(oil, diamonds, etc.) speaks VOLUMES about our relative morality level.

2. Went right down the memory hole, didn't it? That scenario just didn't
fit in with the Neo-Con plan for hegemony. They weren't particularly interested in facts.

3. Not only that, but NOT A SINGLE PERSON has brought it up today nor
at any other time when the issue is discussed.

Seems obvious to me that Saddam was very benign during the post-Gulf War period right up until bush took office and his luck finally changed.
