Only In BushAmerica-Detainess Can Be Held FOREVER-"Even If Found Innocent"
The following is from an AP article published today:

A jury of American military officers is expected to begin deliberations Monday in the case of Salim Hamdan, a Yemeni who faces a maximum life sentence on charges of conspiracy and supporting terrorism.

Even if he is found innocent, he may not leave this U.S. Navy base. The military retains the right to hold those considered to pose a threat to the United States — even those who have been cleared of charges at Guantanamo's "military commissions."

The commander, Navy Rear Adm. David Thomas, said he has been looking for the most appropriate facility to isolate prisoners who have had their day in court.

4. It very well might stand up to a legal test. They are technically POW's.
They can be held until our war with Al Qaida is over.

8. No, that's part of the Geneva Convention which we have agreed to abide by in dealing with Al Qaida.

It's repatriation and that doesn't occur until after the hostilies have ceased. We can't just cherry pick the parts of the treaty that we like. The Geneva Convention also defines war as any international armed conflict.

9. Yes, they are
But the Bush admin has refused to admit their POW status so they can avoid having to observe the POW protections laid down in the Geneva Conventions.

Understand that the definition of an "Illegal Combatant" is that it is whomever the President says it is.

5. I read a Pakistani news feed that said the Saudi's are building prisons

To handle the Gitmo and other prisoners held in prison ships and
secret CIA detention centers as we speak. The story came out of UAE but
a lot of it was hearsay and I wondered disinformation.

I don't know about the story having any legs or being true
but it would back up the history of Bush/Saudi relationship.
