Short - Sweet - Grateful: My 1000th post
DU added dimension and definition to my life, and I would not ever want to be without it again.
When I arrived here I instantly discovered that I would find most of what I need to know in one well compartmented box ready to unpack, run with and use. Thank you, ALL !

In 2004, in a parking lot, an old lady was studying my tailgate. It had 13 anti Bush re-election stickers on it at the time. When I approached she looked at me and said: "What you need is a bumper sticker for Democratic Underground." I was off to join and have never looked back.

I get on soap boxes in my own mind, and in public, and of course they change and vary.

Today, my pre-occupation is with our deserved slamming of the corrupt and cowering MSMedia; not that we should stop, just that I want to make a pitch for counter action on a grass roots level.

If we have found each other on DU - or other places - and we have informed ourselves and learned how we are being duped and slimed and taken for idiots, and learned how to spot these indignities, so can others.

We would help our country if we make an effort to courteously and solidly not accept people being uninformed. To not back away in frustration from a regurgitation of statements or gobbled up talking points that are rooted in ignorance of what is really going on.

Nobody can brain wash a country without its consent, and we have a responsibility to try to start helping the many slightly open eyes around us to get wider.

When we hear objectionable throw away lines rooted in ignorance, our pointing out what IS REAL vs. what is PRESENTED to us as real, can be a simple sowing of seeds under the snow. Some of which will sprout. A quiet statement that we are being manipulated, and that the only news worth watching is the first half hour of Olberman, will help undermine the corrupt MSM. A reference to DU can be another valuable seed to eyes open more than a crack.

Being out there, being visible, being vocal, having opinions, being a kind and informed example of another way to look at things is part of the package.
Some seed throwing needs to be precipitated by us, whenever we see a little patch of fertile soil.

We are no longer the minority. Not all the reasons for this are the more and more obvious, incompetent, middle class eroding, and criminal behavior of the present administration.
Some of it has come from our having made a good start to help educate.

People have mental bootstraps, God gave us a brain.
Let's consciously keep helping them see.

5. Ask and receive
It was spotted by a DUer and got posted a couple of years back. I propped my ITMFA plate on it for the 4000 soldier to die.
The plate was pulled by the DMV NC after I had it a month. They did not think MF stood for miserable failure :sarcasm:.

3. You need to post more, slacker!
:P

"we have a responsibility to try to start helping" ...?

What do you think we HAVE been doing for the last 8 years?

If you believe that, then you need to post more than 250 times a year!

Good 1,000th post! :toast:

KEEP THEM COMING!!
