Can you imagine if the fundie republicans ever actually got what they want?

Let's just say all their wishes came true, aside from the fact that their lives would be meaningless, because they would no longer have anyone to hate...

Just imagine it. All the gays have been magically reformed into straights by Jesus' love. No more Elton John in his wild costumes - he would wear a regular suit and sing about Jesus.

No more androgynous, wildly creative, or colorful personalities - every performer and artist would look and behave like somebody you'd see working the register at a Cracker Barrel.

There would be no more abortions, but since people would no longer have sex out of wedlock, they wouldn't be necessary, but we'd have TONS of new babies, since EVERYONE would marry and reproduce because that is our purpose in life, and just think how that huge work force would keep labor costs down in our wonderful unfettered capitalist society! And how great it would be without nasty communist programs like welfare and medicaid. The churches would pick up the slack with charity paid for by private donations so that we could sleep easy knowing that if anyone in America was getting a freebie, they would at least get a sermon along with it.

No more tramp stamp tattoos or piercings, no more hip-hugger pants or miniskirts, no more hybrid cars - God gave us the oil to use!

No more Thai restaurants or sushi bars - those were only for "the homosexuals" you know. No more vegetarians either. Ugh, good riddance, they were so PREACHY! Don't they know God gave us the animals to eat? In fact, in the garden of Eden before the fall, why the animals were so docile and cooperative, they would just jump into Adam and Eve's mouths when they looked hungry.

What a wonderful world it would be. :eyes:

The sad thing is, I think such a world, if it were even possible, would be such a drag that even fundies would become suicidal in it...

2. To repeat an old saying, they have.
I don't know why they're always whining about being persecuted. They had 'The Dark Ages', and later, 'The Inquisition'. Good times.

Soon to expand to Iran, and back to Afghanistan.

3. They would not make the effort to change anyone
It would be conform or die. The prison camps would fill up leaving them no alternative but to fire the ovens.

5. I always loved that "mom with flapjacks" picture
She looks like there is cyanide in the syrup and she's contemplating the death throes of all the people she's in servitude to.

6. Actually, the vision you paint isn't that different from what we had
here about 100 years ago. Still pretty much unfettered capitalism, no social welfare net, and, except for the county poor houses, the churches took care of folks. I had a great grandfather who committed suicide because he was seriously ill and had no money and no family members left to take care of him, and he didn't want to die in the poor house. And we won't get into the number of girls who were killed by botched back alley abortions.

12. This country should be a haven for fundies....

... and Jews, Buddhists, Muslims, Atheists, Agnostics, any and all religions or lack thereof. Each should respect the others beliefs, and agree that despite our differences we all share this country and want the best for it.

Kind of like we do here. (Do I really need the sarcasm smiley?)

13. One more step along the way
Several years ago while "debating" with a RTLer I suggested that if "they" got their way, it was only a matter of time until any woman who had a miscarriage would have the additional trauma of an inquest to determine if she should be tried for negligent homicide. At the time I thought I was only exaggerating to make a point....With the recent determination of the Bush Admin that most forms of contraception are really abortion, Maybe it was prescience.
