Firefighters Union Blasts Giuliani on Post-Sept. 11 Cleanup

Someone just posted a link to Fox news and I saw this article and thought I would post it.

WASHINGTON — While he touts his leadership in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks as a key component of his 2008 presidential bid, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is facing bitter opposition from the union representing the 343 firefighters who died that day.

FOX News has obtained a scathing letter prepared by the influential and politically active International Association of Fire Fighters union, written late last month but never released. The letter informs the more than 270,000 members that it would not be inviting Giuliani to a forum for presidential candidates on March 14, citing what the union called Giuliani's "egregious acts" after Sept. 11.

In the letter, the IAFF, whose president Harold Schaitberger is a longtime supporter of Democratic Sen. John Kerry, blames the former Big Apple mayor for "unforgivable" post-terror attacks decisions, including reducing the number of firefighters involved in the recovery operation and instituting a "scoop and dump" operation to expedite cleanup, which the union says shows a "disgraceful lack of respect" for the victims.

2. This is not good at all for Rudy!

With the IAFF president being a Democratic supporter, and union man, I wonder how long before the Pukes will start screaming out something synonomous to "Swiftboat".

I'm still trying to find a video or newspaper report during the 9/11 hearing that I watched where Rude and Bernard Kerrick were testifying when suddenly the family members of fallen NYC firefighters and police in attendence started yelling out about how the city's radio communication systems equipment were poor.

3. What this does is undermine Rudy's one and only strength
Much more of this kind of thing and Rudy is toast. If people no longer see him as a great leader after 9/11 he has NOTHING to offer Republicans.

8. The corpmedia ignored that story to protect Bush and Giuliani's hero images.
Corpmedia deliberately IGNORED Firefighters throughout the 2004 election because they had serious issues against Bush's handling of 9-11 and vigorously supported Kerry.

5. Wow, attacking his strength--
deliciously Rovian. And sweeter still since it comes from the guys who stand behind him in photo ops.

6. This will hurt Giuliani more than his personal life
He's spent the last 5 1/2 years prancing around the country, draped in a fireman's coat & hat, exploiting 9/11.

And, the IAFF just told him, in no uncertain terms, to go fuck himself - check out the last paragraph:
>>>
We have heard from some affiliates that Giuliani's campaign is beginning to reach out to our locals, looking to build support. If you are contacted by Giuliani, Von Essen, or a representative of the Giuliani campaign, we hope you will say not just, "No," but, "Hell no." And please let the IAFF Political Affairs Department know about it by calling (202) 824-1582.

The emphasis on "Hell no" was from Fox, not me.
