New York Times EV projection
Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 01:41 PM by dtotire
New York Times Electoral map has 268 EV solid or leaning to Obama, and 231EV solid or leaning to McCain, with 31 EV tossup. This is the poorest showing for Obama of all the EV sites I've seen. I think it will be close. They have New Hamphire as leaning MeCain, and New Mexico as Toss-up. I think they will both go for Obama, which will put him over the 270 needed.

1. So in Order to Win,
McCain has to win OH, NV, CO, and NM and hold onto NH, MO, and FL. That's an uphill fight.

2. Gramps Support Is An Inch Thick
I don't see him being a factor in any of the 2004 Kerry states soon and soon the end game will be played in his backyard. We're talking Ohio, Indiana, Colorado, Missouri, Nevada and even Arizona.

The "X" factor here is the large number of newly registered Democrats in many of these states. They haven't figured into the models the pollsters are using and the protracted primary battle not only got these people to the polls, but is likely to bring them back in November.

3. I think the MSM should include EV projections with every poll
because as we learned from 2000, the man who wins the popular vote (Gore) does not necessarily get to sit in the White House

4. Creating the illusion of "closeness".....
Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 02:46 PM by SoCalDem
That illusion allows for missteps in polling, Diebold chicanery, non-matching of whatever exit polling ends up in place, and for job-security for pundits & columnists...
