It's all good now. The AP says, anthrax case is solved!
Officials: Anthrax case solved, but still open

By LARA JAKES JORDAN and MATT APUZZO, Associated Press Writers 36 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - The case of the anthrax-laced letters that killed five people in 2001 and alarmed a nation already traumatized by the Sept. 11 terror attacks has been solved — but will remain open for now to wrap up legal and investigative loose ends, U.S. officials said.

The government were to begin briefing victims and their survivors at FBI headquarters Wednesday — eight days after the top suspect, Army biowarfare scientist Bruce Ivins, killed himself as prosecutors prepared to charge him with murder.

Ivins' lawyer maintains the brilliant but troubled scientist would have been proven innocent had he lived. And some of Ivins' friends and former co-workers at the Fort Detrick biological warfare lab in Frederick, Md., say they doubt he could or would have unleashed the deadly toxin.

But after nearly seven years — much of which was spent pointing the finger at the wrong suspect — the FBI is ready to end the "Amerithrax" investigation by outlining its evidence against Ivins, according to two U.S. officials. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case publicly.

Let's review: There is no evidence linking Ivins exclusively to the anthrax that was mailed. Nothing linking him to the locations where it was mailed. His therapist isn't a therapist but a low level mental health worker with a criminal record, money problems and a substance abuse issue.

I feel so much better now. :sarcasm:

1. Well, I'm glad that was settled in short order,
so that we can get back to the serious business of not finding real terrorists.

7. Up until a few months ago the Repubs kept insisting we hadn't been attacked since 9-11
...as proof Georgie's draconian edicts security policies were keeping us safe. Every time they said this the anthrax attacks were thrown back at them. Now suddenly, nearly seven years on and all within the space of a week, they've named the terrorist and he's conveniently offed himself.

A 3 year old could come up with a more convincing plotline, even including a hungry dinosaur and a flying superhero.

9. But, but, but
they have the new science which is so much better than the old one. And lots of circumstantial evidence, people just talking left and right and saying he's guilty so he must be. Oh wait, the people saying that all seem to be unidentified officials and a "therapist" who was pushed by her FBI assifgned agent to file an order against him.

Anyway, get with the program and look here to see the preview of their evidence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrEkbIHlV1E

10. We still don't know why an ABC reporter broadcast false information on the source of the anthrax
Let's review: There is no evidence linking Ivins exclusively to the anthrax that was mailed. Nothing linking him to the locations where it was mailed. His therapist isn't a therapist but a low level mental health worker with a criminal record, money problems and a substance abuse issue.

And don't forget ABC claimed that 4 separate sources informed them that the anthrax was tested for and contained bentonite which would substantiate the claim that it originated in Saddam Husein's Iraq. This all at a very convenient time for the neocon driven Bush administration desperately casting around for any reason at all to justify in the court of public opinion their planned war crime in the form of the illegal invasion of Iraq. It was later shown that this claim about the bentonite found in the anthrax samples was entirely false, yet ABC is remaining silent on who misled them into broadcasting patently false and misleading information/propaganda to their viewers.
