Has John McCain ever had a real job?
I am talking about one paid by the private sector not the government.

3. I severely doubt it - unless you mean marrying a rich heiress.
The guy has basically sucked government (and taxpayers') tit all his life, since birth.

18. Who's talking about McCain? The OP was asking about REAL JOBS
...which, evidently, do not exist in service to the government.

Take your McCain red herring and have fun with it.

24. How simpleminded of you.
No, I don't care for McCain. What I do care for, however, is CONSISTENCY, even when the facts are SLIGHTLY INCONVENIENT.

As someone said upthread: if a life of military and political service isn't "real work," then there are some prominent Democrats who
fail that criteria as well. Some VERY prominent ones.

Working for the government is actual work. Like many jobs, it is possible to do it poorly. When done well, in proper service, it's a
noble career.

Now, then - tell me again where I worship McCain?

22. Not really. He was in the Navy in some capacity from 1958 until 1981. Then he entered politics.
Obama was a lecturer at the Univ. of Chicago Law School from 1993-2004 and also was an associate attorney 1993-2002, so must have had a pay check or two.

26. If you disregard "Going Downtown" for cheap money...
...and being crippled at the behest of his country...and five years without a W-2 in North Vietnam-then no. If you denigrate his reality then you will have seen him merely as a caricature. His real failures came when after the Vietnam experience he assumed he had paid his life-long dues and that anything he could grasp was not to be weighed morally. Meaning if he could find a richer and cuter wife, if he could gain social standing and power and wealth-then he was entitled to do so at any cost. The outcome has been the Keating Scandal and embracing Bush after the smearing of 2000. That he moved past those to the disreputable smearings of this campaign show only that he learned from his "supposed" betters and that he never got the "real" integrity thing that should have flowed from both his (legacy) education at Annapolis and later his oath of office.
