Today's Congressional dem primary election in Memphis will tell us a lot about race relations

It's a 60% African American district currently represented by freshman Steve Cohen, one of the most progressive dems in the House. Cohen is white. He's running (again) against Nikki Tinker, union busting corporate lawyer and big Ford family protege. She's black. She's also run the ugliest, most racist campaign so far this election cycle. She ran an ad trying to associate Cohen with the KKK, and another attacking Cohen for not supporting school prayer when he was a TN State Senator. In that ad, she attacked him for daring to come into "our churches". Nasty piece of crap, now pulled from Youtube. She also pointedly refused to condemn an attack on Cohen stating that he, like all Jews, hates Jesus and praising Tinker.

Last night Keith gave her his WPITW.

Should Tinker win today, it'll speak not only to the ugliest and most blatant attacks being effective, but to state of race relations. It'll also mean that a real progressive is replaced by a corporate piece of shit.

That's the outcome that I want to see. Anything else would be a travesty.
