Coincidence?

Number of days left in Hamdan's sentence: about 165 (5.5 months)
Number of days until inauguration: 163

Is this some indication that the members of the military tribunal are trying to maintain some degree of justice while balancing against the reality that they are still accountable to *, and that no one is getting out of Gitmo before * leaves office? Or am I being too optimistic that there are still some good people calling shots?

2. I think you're right. The military is transitioning.

I'm sure that many in the military will be as relieved as we are when they know the country is safe from George W. Bush.

There will be a new commander-in-chief then. And the military itself should be afraid of unending detention without cause in case it come back to haunt them in another country.

9. Oh Snap!!

I'd find it very ironic indeed were Hamdan to be released on Inauguration day. If he serves his entire sentence and is not released but rather held as an enemy combatant (although, he is now officially a convict), then ANY SEMBLANCE of democracy and a just legal system is FOREVER LOST.
