The tin foil is getting a work out this week, no?
1) FBI seizes two computers at a library in Frederick, MD (oopsie, no warrant!)

2) Dr. Bruce Ivins "commits suicide" (with Tylenol) after being told that charges would soon be brought against him in the 2001 anthrax attacks (Ivins was a scientist at Ft. Detrick (near Frederick MD).

3) 18 year old Colin McKenzie-Gudie is arrested on a carjacking charge in White Flint MD. Colin also was found to have bomb making materials and a large stash of weapons in his Bethesda MD home, plus a list of addresses for his teachers at St. John Academy. Colin's father, an ex-Air Force officer who also works at the Department of Treasury was later charged with providing his son with the weapons. The police also later found false CIA and Geneva Convention identification, a map of a motorcade route at Camp David (near Frederick MD), and instructions on taking sniper shots. The FBI, Secret Service and CIA have been called in to investigate.

4) Ron Suskind comes out in his new book with a "smoking gun" charge leveled by CIA personnel, that someone in the White House directed the CIA to forge a letter connecting WMD with Saddam. He claims the evidence is "irrefutable".

5) Another apparent lone lunatic in Miami is charged with plotting to assassinate Barack Obama, then later it is claimed that he also was planning to kill George Bush.

6) Surprising apparently everyone, Dick Cheney's office says he will attend the GOP Convention

7) Russia invades Georgia, oil prices drop.

1. You've peaked my interest Dear
How do you kill yourself with Tylenol??

I do agree though it has been quite a tinny week, although I could not have thought of that by myself.

3. I think he mixed it with codeine too..
but it seems like you'd have to take a heck of a lot of it, and I guess your kidneys just shut down?

BOSS, the world's gone crazy, I think it will be cocktail time pretty early this afternoon.

10. My beer hour
usually starts early on Fridays but I'm an early to bed, early to rise kinda guy. And as Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett say, "its after five somewhere." I hope you have a great weekend. We are heading to Hattiesburg tomorrow in search of a bottle tree store.

4. It's not that hard to kill yourself with Tylenol
Acetomenophen shuts down the Cytochrome P450 enzyme complex in the liver. It's very easy to overdose on it, especially if someone drinks.

That said, there's no way I believe the fed's story.

6. Sure.
Unfortunately, it's a death that takes years to kill somebody with tylenol.

But we're talking about codeine. Whole different beast.

9. Not necessarily
Mixed with even a normal amount of alcohol, going slightly over the recommended dosage of acetominophen can put people in a coma, as it did Antonio Benedi in 1993. Happened to him in 4 days.

And the codeine added in wouldn't help anything either.

11. Thanks for the info
I have a rather irrational fear of Tylenol. I haven't taken any in decades. I don't need any assistance doing harm to my liver.

5. It is a pretty sorry list, isn't it?
May I add one? As a Californian, the fact that Blackwater participated in a raid with the DEA at one of our marijuana clinics makes my head hurt.

I don't know what to think...

:scared:

7. I didn't know about that..
Edited on Fri Aug-08-08 02:33 PM by Virginia Dare
lots of thuggish "drug raids" recently aren't there?....:scared:

I also left out that it was reported that the former Governor of Maryland was apparently spying on various "left wing" groups.

8. Far too many to keep up on.
This is why when I try to tell my "low info" acquaintances about what's going on, if they aren't paying any attention at all, I sound like a freakin' loon!

I mean if you know nothing, and I start listing all those things that happened just this week alone, *I* sound like I'm unhinged, even if I try to speak rationally.

I kind of shot off at a friend yesterday who asked if I'd heard about the latest controversy...I'm thinking, oh good she's finally reading the news. So what is the controversy she wants to discuss? Tyra Banks posing in a photo shoot as Michelle Obama! It was too much...I mean Tyra Banks? That's your fucking crisis?

<sigh>

I wish I was better at debate and persuasion. Not my strong suit, not in person anyway.

But at least we can all watch out for each other here...that's good.
