Why fellow Democrats? Why?
After what happened to Gary Hart and Bill Clinton? Why do they still do it. These aren't the 1950's and 1960's when the media would just look the other way when Ike, JFK, and LBJ would go creepin'.

I mean this affair started AFTER he first ran for President. AFTER he was the V-P nominee. He clearly wanted to be President, how AFTER what happened to Hart and Clinton how could he think he could get away with it? Not just Edwards but any politician who wants to move to higher office. It's beyond arrogant.

I just don't and probably never will understand it. If Hart had been the nominee in 1988 he would have not let Bush, Sr. and Lee Atwater define him the way Dukakis let them do it to him. Imagine what was left on the back burner (like universal health care) all because of Bill and Monica. If Gary Hart had kept it in his pants there would have been no Bush 41 or Bush 43. If Clinton had kept it in his pants their would have been no Bush 43. Damn John, how could you just shoot yourself in the foot like that?

2. You really had to say "shoot" regarding men and their special organs, didn't you?
:scared:

And you're right. It's about any politician, regardless of party affiliation.

3. Well, some delusion goes with the desire to be President.
Gary Hart dared the press to catch him. Bill Clinton said that the reason he did it was because he could.

I guess in order to have strong and effective leaders, we have to put up with this accompanying personality flaw.

5. Yeah...
But if he was going to have an affair, he could've atleast waited until he got sworn in first.

6. ego and the vile, pulsing demands rising up from his testicles.
men are helpless when confronted by a willing woman. Helpless, I say!

If anyone wants to come over here right now and act willing, I'll prove it to you!

It is ego and arrogance and stupidity.

7. Most of the time they get away with it.
You don't think that no politician between Gary Hart and Bill Clinton, or Clinton and Edwards, fooled around?

I won't say they all do it, because they don't. But I will say it's not uncommon, and we only find out about a fraction of it, and when we do our first question shouldn't be "Why did they do it?" but "What is behind us finding out about it?" That answer could be anything from careless stupidity to political intrigue. But there's some reason this broke, and other stories don't.

And I'm not excusing anyone for anything. Just saying, it's always there to be reported. Edwards figured he'd get away with it because most of the time they do.

And one more thing--if the only reason a politician isn't fooling around on his or her spouse is because they are afraid of getting caught, that doesn't speak highly of them, to me.

11. One of my good friends says
"Men only have enough blood in their bodies to keep one organ operational -- either the penis or the brain, but not both at the same time."

She is sooooooo right!
