So NOW the MSM decides to pay attention to John Edwards.
When he talks about the 47 million people without health care, that's just boring. When he pleads for the 37 million in poverty, no one cares. He points out that there are 200 thousand homeless vets here in our country, and it's a big fucking yawn.

Get your dick wet once even, and you are marked for life in the brave new world of ours.

And one more thing-

Don't wanna be an American idiot.
Don't want a nation under the new mania.
And can you hear the sound of hysteria?
The subliminal mindfuck America.

Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the alienation.
Everything isn't meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We're not the ones who're meant to follow.
For that's enough to argue.

Well maybe I'm the faggot America.
I'm not a part of a redneck agenda.
Now everybody do the propaganda.
And sing along in the age of paranoia.

Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the alienation.
Everything isn't meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We're not the ones who're meant to follow.
For that's enough to argue.

Don't wanna be an American idiot.
One nation controlled by the media.
Information age of hysteria.
It's calling out to idiot America.

Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the alienation.
Everything isn't meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We're not the ones who're meant to follow.
For that's enough to argue.

God help us all.

4. Seems like humans always realize that coming clean in the beginning would have been the better idea
*after* they've covered up. Happens over and over with us homo sapiens.

5. I've been thinking the same thing.
"Yeah, I did it, and you know what? We're still here, and we're still together." Something simple like that. With that simple statement I believe he would have garnered a lot of respect for his frankness on the matter.

Oh well, we can't go back in time.

7. You should be damned glad they didn't
Didn't touch this story, at least ... although they apparently knew.

Truth be told, Edwards was never ignored: he always got more press than he deserved, given his low performance in polls and races. There were magazine covers, long NYT and WaPo profiles, endless television appearances on the Sunday morning shows and not one but two full hours on Hardball.

I have yet to see a thing John Edwards has done for poverty save speak about it on the campaign trail. Was he really sincere about it? I'll never know. But I wouldn't count on it.

8. Ask the people of New Orleans what he's done.
He was the first there. He picked up a shovel, he worked. And just about everything on him in WaPo and NYT was about haircuts.

10. Some have spoken of it ...
Especially those whose homes were foreclosed by the major holding of the hedge fund for which he worked.

Yes, John Edwards picked up a shovel: for ten minutes, and then put it down. That was a photo-op (as all politicians do photo-ops, though few try to claim credit for saving lives or rebuilding neighborhoods). Somehow I haven't seen him shoveling too hard since the campaign ended.

I'm sorry to be harsh, but for those of us who had the uncomfortable feeling that John Edwards was inauthentic, this is our sad day to have those feelings confirmed.
