According to John Edwards millions of gay Americans were too immoral to be married
(he used the words against my faith but the gist is the same). His view about marriage equality was hardly unique. But it does make his conduct within his marriage our business. I know he isn't a candidate now and that makes it somewhat less newsworthy. But this isn't just some private matter, at least not while he sees fit to comment on gay couples private lives.

1. After seeing his comment about Bill Clinton in 1999, I tend to agree that he should be scewered.
That plus his stance against gay marriage because he just doesn't feel right about it.

He obviously has such a pure moral compass to cheat on his cancer stricken wife :puke:

My heart still breaks for Elizabeth.. she is such a wonderful woman.

2. this is one of the bigger reasons it's not just a "private failing"
interestingly, Elizabeth supports same sex marriage.

4. In this one respect, I think he deserves the criticism
Otherwise, it's nobody's business (and I wish we'd move on to other topics), but he shouldn't get all high and mighty about marriage and then ... well ...

Then again, even if his behavior was above reproach, he still shouldn't be trying to decide who can and can't get married.

(Wellstone shouldn't have, either. Even the better politicians can't seem to get their shit together on this issue.)

5. If he ever runs for president again, I think this should be brought up.
I do not like his position on this matter at all.

7. That's a really good point. Only men and women should get married and cheat on each other.

You've just reminded me of yet another reason to be sorely disappointed in him.
