Hunter: "the public persona did not mesh at all with the person who was sitting in front of me."
And what public persona would THAT be?? A loving, devoted husband dedicated to a wife battling cancer?? Or maybe the one who was making morality speeches to his $upporter$ and voters and asking us to entrust the country to him?

http://www.newsweek.com/id/44245

The documentaries--which show the former senator on trips to Iowa and Africa, and places in between--are a start. In one installment, Edwards mocks a memo prepared by staffers reminding him to praise the value of public education when speaking to a group of public-school teachers. "I pay a lot of money for people who have the expertise to tell me that."

The Webisodes are the brainchild of Rielle Hunter, a filmmaker who met Edwards at a New York bar where Edwards was having a business meeting. "I didn't think it was John Edwards," Hunter recalls, "because the public persona did not mesh at all with the person who was sitting in front of me." Hunter pitched Edwards on the documentaries as a medium for bringing the "real John Edwards" to the people.

4. Edwards to Couric: Infidelity should not be a controlling factor in being picked for Prez
Yet he didn't feel a need to let his supporters/voters "consider" his actions.

EDWARDS: I think the most important qualities in a president in today's world are trustworthiness-- sincerity, honesty, strength of leadership. And-- and certainly that goes to a part of that. It's not the whole thing. But it goes to a part of it.

COURIC: So you think it's-- an appropriate way to judge a candidate?

EDWARDS: Yeah. But I don't think it's controlling. I mean, I think that, as you point out, there have been American presidents that at least according to the-- to the stories we've all heard-- that were not faithful, that were in fact good presidents. So I don't think it controls the issue. But I think it's certain-- something reasonable for people to consider.

The ability to run a country well are not mutually exclusive to philandering. I can not hate Edwards but I do have the view that like family-values Repub-icans he is a hypocrite for his family orientated facade. I won't condemn him but it's pretty obvious his Political career is cooked. Thank God I didn't get my way as he was my pick for candidate.

John Edwards Admits an Affair

by BooMan
Fri Aug 8th, 2008 at 04:34:52 PM EST
John Edwards has a lot of gall to run for president and ask for our support when he knows full well that his entire candidacy can blow up at any moment if his extramarital affair is exposed. What if he had won the nomination? What if we had a nominee that carried out an affair as recently as 2006 with a campaign staffer that he steered PAC money to, despite her lack of qualifications, to make campaign videos? John Edwards is an asshole. Only an asshole would presume to take up the banner of the left knowing full well all the time that his own personal life is a ticking time bomb that can crush all the aspirations of the left. I feel bad for Elizabeth and for his family but I don't really care about that. He attempted to betray the entire left in this country when he presumed to become our nominee. I'm pissed.
