Costas on Iranian team: "Another example of politics and sports colliding"
No Bob, what you are seeing is 53 athletes who are there to compete fairly, to give everything they've got to win a medal. Not to debate uranium enrichment or defend their government's policies.

The only collision is between NBC's propaganda and the spirit of the Games.

1. Did you catch the reference to the imaginary Iranian "nuclear weapons program"
What the fuck does that Likudist war propaganda have to do with a sports competition??

2. I couldn't believe how they were inserting politics in there.
That's when I changed the channel. I don't give a fuck that Iran isn't getting as much applause as Iraq. And they cut to Bush when Iraq was going by. Jesus, how inappropriate. I don't want to hear politics from Lauer and Costas, especially at the Olympics. Isn't that the goddamned point of the Olympics?

4. That *is* the goddamned point of the Olympics
NBC is answering to a higher source - they're not only slicing and dicing to sell more commercial time, but hawking American might on behalf of GE during the show.

And I may puke if I see one more ExxonMobil feelgood propagandorgasm.

6. You notice all the political commentary about the "Axis of Evil" countries...
...but not one peep about Haiti?
