Paul Newman.. Please Don't Leave Us
I know you don't have a say in the matter and I'm sure you'd love to stay if you could.. but I don't want you to die:-(

The world will feel a little more lonely and a lot less full when you're gone. You have lived a full and grand life, born under the luckiest of stars. You are blessed and we have been blessed to have shared this same time and space with you on this earth. You made us laugh `n` cry and have inspired millions to reach out and care about their fellow human beings.

Again you are one of the lucky ones, it's not everyone that has the chance to say good-bye to friends and family the way you surely will these next few weeks and to be surrounded with love when it finally comes your time to pass. I wish you the greatest of journeys.

I'll miss you
I love you
but most of all I want to tell you.. Thank You for all that you've done, for all that you are and always will be.

Live On Paul NewmanO8)

6. Oh sasquatch
I love that song, (I've always loved Johnny Cash), and it hadn't even begun to play before the tears started. All I needed to see was the title.. Thanks for posting that was SO PERFECT.

I know he'll remain and he will be here still..

Man that was so perfect and you are amazing:hug:

7. It's odd - there's a lot of people, I don't care if they come or go

But I think I will be seriously sad when Paul Newman passes. He's been a constant in my life.

From movies like Cool Hand Luke and The Sting, to skiing around me at Glebe Mountain in Vermont (can't think of the actual resort name - started with a 'T' and it was a private resort, and it was in my damned back yard of all places), to his decent food that he generously donates profits for - he could have been some rich retired asshole, but he chose not to be.

I don't know why this upsets me, but it does.

Thank you for all you've given us, Paul. I doubt you read DU, doubt even more that you'd see this post, but that's my sentiment nonetheless.

Cherish your time with your family.

18. "I don't know why this upsets me, but it does." Because we look back in time when life was safer,
simpler, and Paul Newman is part of many of our pasts. We are losing a great man with whom we have a history, albeit as a movie star and an admirer of his philanthropy, and it hurts damnit!

My husband will be sad, too--his alltime favorite movie was Cool Hand Luke. In fact, he wanted to name our first son Luke because of that movie. We didn't, but over the years I have wished that we had--for a lot of reasons.

8. My heart literally sank in my chest when I heard this news today.
I guess one cannot stop the inevitable, but can only hope that it is a peaceful and easy journey. Mr. Newman deserves at least that.

23. its like the old world is going away, the one where your dad takes
you to the movies and its a Paul Newman movie. My dad took us one at a time to Butch Cassiday and the Sundance Kid so he could see it four times. :) My dad was a sweetie and one of his favorite actors and persons was Paul Newman. It seems like Paul has always been in our family. Its terrible that he's going away too.

10. From one of many girls who grew up watching his movies and carrying a secret crush all these years
this is my video tribute to him - he and Joanne Woodward are/were married 50 years this year. Long sad sigh here and falling tears. Too much sad news in one weekend.

19.  "Oh, Luke. He was some boy. Cool Hand Luke. Hell, he's a natural-born world-shaker."
He was smiling... That's right. You know, that, that Luke smile of hisHe had it on his face right to the very end. Hell, if they didn't know it 'fore, they could tell right then that they weren't a-gonna beat him. That old Luke smile. Oh, Luke. He was some boy. Cool Hand Luke. Hell, he's a natural-born world-shaker."

He was, he is, and he always will be.
