1. Marked for later - because I'd like to see it too.
Maybe there'll be CDs for sale. Why not, we buy everything else from China?

2. you can see it on NBC Olympics website
http:www.nbcolympics.com

They ask you if you have cable (and for details on company and zip code). If you don't, there is perhaps a problem, but, since I'm watching it on video away from home, there is probably leeway. .
video works on PC's and Intel Macs, but not on Power-PC Macs.

6. Your link doesnt work
Also, when I did end up there on the nbcolympics site I still couldnt watch any videos.

NBC only supports Windows Video on XP or Vista, and with either IE6/7 or Firefox.

Im on W2000, using Mozilla's SeaMonkey browser.

Im screwed.

8. I've been looking, too -- I found this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zksPy1IHKLs

Really crappy - someone just filmed their TV screen, but the countdown was cool nonetheless.

The Young Turks showed some clips from it last night, and that's what got me interested. Absolutely amazing, even on the little 3" screen.

Recommend and I'll keep kicking because I'd REALLY like to see it.

11. I heard there are several versions (different countries' broadcasts) on the torrent sites already
Personally I'd go with the version on the official NBC Olympics site, now that it's apparently available there.

14. It is getting to be too much...peeps gripe about politics in the Olympics, but
the opening ceremonies are nationalist one-upsmanship...bs...

athletes have to skip the opening cause they don't have 5 hours to spare the night before they compete. It is time to tone it down.

18. The NBC commentators got on my nerves.
Edited on Sat Aug-09-08 08:26 PM by rainbow4321
With a few of the smaller countries they announced (paraphrased) "they have never won a medal and most likely never will". Even went on to mock a tiny island country whose president has told it's athletes that he will give them a huge mansion to live in if they bring home a medal..and then the commentator had to throw in that basically their prez made a safe bet since none of the athletes from that country WILL win a medal.
Then there was the comment "NOTICE the different kind of reception that the Iranian athletes are getting from the crowd compared to the Iraqi athletes that walked in right before them".
I still think it is wrong that the US is allowed to send professional athletes to the Olympics. Wrong for any country to do so. The camera did close ups of Jason Kidd, Kobe Bryant, etc.. as the US group walked in.
Personally, I have more respect for the athletes from the really small countries than the bigger ones who send their professionals. Some of the populations of those countries were amazing (70,000; 110,000).

Stupid commentators. As if the smaller countries don't have enough of a complex.
Cayman Islands had called NBC Sports asking them to NOT cut to commercial after Canada walked by so the Cayman Island citizens back home could see their athletes. That was before they realized that the countries would NOT be walking into the stadium alphabetically.
