Why does Bob Schieffer hate me?

I wrote him this in response to his commentary on Face the Nation last Sunday. Still waiting for a response and/or an explanation:

Can Mr. Schieffer please be more specific? When and where did "Obama's people try to denigrate" McCain's military service? Exactly *who* did this and what did they say, exactly?

There are some interesting comments on the site... in the feedback section.

I think we established last week that Schieffer's loyalties are extremely suspect and his brother is an active GOP pol.

What's he doing reading the "news" and pretending to do interviews for CBS as an objective, disinterested journalist?

If he's got a horse in this race... and he clearly does, imo.... he should say so.

If he doesn't, he should make that clear instead. Right now, I calls 'em as I sees 'em.

that a person doesn't get a big network gig like that if they aren't part of the status quo. Even when his motives aren't suspect, and even when he sometimes says something I agree with in his comments at the end of the show, he is still a weak interviewer. He has no ability to think on his feet and little analytical skill. Schieffer is one of those guys the status quo can count on not to rock the boat too much. You watch his debate questions and compare them to say somebody like Jim Lehrer who usually moderates a debate too. They'll be weak and wishy-washy, and will come from a RW frame. I doubt he'll be as embarrassing as Charlie Gibson was when he adamantly pushed the capital dividends question last summer with Hillary and Barack, but not by much.

I'm not sure that's a prereq for getting top on air jobs... historically ( maybe it is NOW).

Jennings, Rather, Cronkite were all *journalists*... and at the same time, anchors.

This is evident... even in the Clark interview. It seemd as though Schieffer was actually failing to grasp what Clark was saying . This is suggested by the awkward follow-ups. "Really??! You don't think getting shot down and being a POW qualifies you to be president?" And therefore it's conceivable he *still* doesn't.

Unlikely, but conceivable. Hence he should answer my email and explain himself.

Murrow or Cronkite wouldn't be allowed near a camera nowadays.
