Breaking: Georgian city of Gori falls to Russian military
The city of Gori is located outside the breakaway region. The president of Georgia was in that city earlier today.

Also Russia claims to have shot down two Georgian helicopters in Akhbazia.

3. Not really any of our business
I mean, Georgia kept poking its stick at the Russian bear, that eventually, it got fed up with it.

16. Google "Cheney BTC Pipeline" ......
more is going on than what's being reported. May not be concerning to 'your busness' but it is to Cheneys. Peace.

6. Yes, Tends To Underscore Another Screw Up By Bush
As noted, its either an intelligence failure of the highest order or the US stupidly backed Georgia's initial offensive:

8. You assume that this is stupid and not intentional.
Who has been talking, err, prepping the world for WWIII? The neo-cons have.

Wag the dog.

12. Iraq Repercussions - What Did Bush Co Promise Georgia For Iraq Assistance?
What made Georgia feel safe enough to launch an offensive despite Russian warnings back in 2006 that it would attack Georgia if it did?

Here is Georgia committing 2000 troops to Iraq:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6433289.stm

What were they promised in return? Is this just another domino regarding why the Iraq invasion was stupid?

10. The thing that worries me the most is that I am not sure I totally understand what's going on.
I listened to the Diane Rehm show today and heard what both sides are saying and I am STILL not sure who started it, what the ramifications might be and whether or not it is something to get pre-freaked out about. The speakers representing each side talked pretty much at cross purposes. Both speakers did concur about the fact that the Georgian president had fucked up, though.

17. YUP! Geopolitical (i.e. OIL) wars are always concerning. WWIII in the making?
 It's the neocon wet dream, after all.

:scared:

I have wondered whether Cheney urged Georgia to go ahead and stick a needle in Russia's eye. Can't help myself.
